In the center of her artistic work, Johanna Kandl (*1954, in Vienna) traces the economic conditions and their effects on daily life. The artist reveals structures behind cultural-historical contexts, thematizing the conditions of production, the people behind them and the history of materials.
The works of Johanna Kandl have been presented internationally in numerous solo exhibitions, including at Ringturm (Vienna), Landesgalerie Niederösterreich (Krems), Belvedere (Vienna), Essl Museum (Klosterneuburg), Camera Austria (Graz), Dortmunder Kunstverein, Lentos Kunstmuseum (Linz), Galerie Six Friedrich Lisa Ungar (Munich), Kunstverein Ulm, GfZK – Gallery of Contemporary Art (Leipzig), Moravian Gallery (Brno), Salzburger Kunstverein, Fotohof (Salzburg), Forum Stadtpark (Graz), and Secession (Vienna).
