Discover premium 10 Gigabit connectivity with the Netgear ProSafe 10GBASE-LR SFP+ LC GBIC. This high-performance transceiver is designed to slot into standard SFP+ ports on Netgear’s M-series switches—M5300, M7100, and M7300—as well as select Smart and Plus switches. Engineered for enterprise networks, data centers, and campus deployments, this LR (long-range) transceiver delivers reliable, low-latency connectivity over single-mode fiber with a compact, hot-swappable form factor. Whether you’re expanding your server farm, linking data centers, or extending your network to remote locations, the ProSafe 10GBASE-LR SFP+ LC GBIC offers a scalable, future-ready solution that balances performance, compatibility, and ease of maintenance.

  • Plug-and-play 10GBASE-LR performance with hot-swappable SFP+ installation means you can upgrade or replace transceivers without powering down your switch or disrupting traffic. Compatibility with NETGEAR M5300, M7100, and M7300 series—along with select Smart and Plus switches—ensures a seamless upgrade path for growing networks. The transceiver supports standard SFP+ interfaces, enabling a wide range of high-speed topologies without the need for bespoke hardware. This makes it ideal for data centers, core-aggr access layers, and edge deployments that demand reliable 10 Gbps uplinks.
  • Long-range single-mode fiber connectivity up to 10 kilometers (or more, depending on fiber quality) at 10 Gbps. The 1310 nm wavelength and LC duplex connector configuration are optimized for stable transmission across campus backbones and inter-data-center links. With LR-grade optics, you can span multi-building campuses or connect distant server clusters while preserving high-throughput, low-latency links for virtualization, storage area networking, and heaviest data flows.
  • Enterprise-grade reliability with robust design and heat-tolerant operation. Built to meet demanding data-center expectations, this GBIC supports a rugged interface and efficient power usage to reduce cooling load while maintaining stable performance. The LC duplex connector ensures a tight, reliable fiber connection, while the compact form factor allows dense port counts in your switch chassis or rack-mount environment. This makes it an excellent choice for scalable networks that require dependable performance over time.
  • Advanced diagnostics and management features. The transceiver supports standard SFP+ capabilities, including operational monitoring for temperature, supply voltages, optical power, and other critical parameters. Real-time visibility helps network administrators proactively identify potential issues before they impact traffic, enabling faster troubleshooting and higher uptime. This is especially valuable in environments with large fiber topologies, mixed hardware ecosystems, or stringent service-level agreements.
  • Comprehensive support and warranty within the NETGEAR ProSafe family. As part of Netgear’s enterprise-grade ProSafe portfolio, this LR SFP+ GBIC is backed by comprehensive technical support, product documentation, and a robust warranty framework. This ensures you have access to timely assistance, firmware updates, and compatible ecosystem integration as your network evolves.

how to install Netgear ProSafe 10GBASE-LR SFP+ LC GBIC

  • Power down or place the connected switch in a maintenance window if required by your operational practices, then locate an available SFP+ port on the switch where the module will be installed.
  • Remove the cover or access panel as needed and ensure the SFP+ slot is clean and free of debris. Align the transceiver with the slot, making sure the connector is oriented correctly for LC duplex fiber.
  • Gently insert the Netgear ProSafe SFP+ LR GBIC into the SFP+ port until it seats securely. You should feel it click into place; avoid forcing the module to prevent damage to the port.
  • Attach the single-mode fiber pair using LC connectors. Verify that the fiber is clean, properly indexed, and the latch is secured to prevent cable movement. Route cables to minimize bending and stress.
  • Power the switch back on, or bring the system back from maintenance mode. Check the port status LEDs and management interface to confirm link establishment and that the 10 Gbps link is active. Use your switch’s diagnostic tools to verify optical power levels, link quality, and error rates.

Works perfectly aside from how hot it gets
The ability to add more ports to my different devices has been very helpful. I’ve tested it on my tablet, phone, desktop, and laptop and it’s worked exactly how I needed to. The only issue I’ve had with it is how hot it gets when using it especially when it’s using pass through charging. It will get noticeably hot when you touch it

Worked great (quick test)
Just got this and did a quick test on both steam deck and Nintendo switch and it worked great I first plugged in Ethernet and then added HDMI and then power On the steam deck all three worked as they were plugged in On the switch nothing worked until the power was plugged in, then everything worked, this is expected for hdmi but it seems like Ethernet should have worked in isolation. I unplugged hdmi and then power and as soon as power was disconnected so was the internet connection. This is trivial and maybe expected but I figured it was worth noting

Redmagic 8pro compatible
I had been searching for a dock/hub that I could use to connect my Redmagic 8pro to my portable monitor via HDMI and this is the only one that I found that worked. All others would not display any video but the other ports worked for peripherals and such. I am very happy with this product. It allows me to fully utilize the set up I was hoping for with my phone which is heavily geared towards gaming. I can connect a gaming keyboard and mouse and have access to a wired internet connection and expandable storage all while playing on a great gaming monitor.

GREAT!
I use this all the time. It is lightweight so I carry it in my purse and I'm always prepared. I had to put my name on it b/c it is so popular that it has walked away a few times.
