Protect your critical IT infrastructure with proactive, immersive moisture monitoring from the HPE G2 PDU Leak Detection Sensor. Engineered for data centers, server rooms, and high-density rack deployments, this sensor adds an essential layer of safety around power distribution units (PDUs). By continuously sensing the presence of water or excessive humidity near electrical outlets, it delivers rapid alerts and clear guidance to prevent electrical faults, equipment damage, and costly downtime. The HPE G2 ecosystem is built for reliability, scalability, and ease of integration, enabling facilities teams to safeguard assets while maintaining peak performance and uptime.

  • Real-time leak detection: The G2 PDU Leak Detection Sensor uses advanced moisture sensing to identify even small amounts of water around PDU connections, outlets, and cabling zones. Early warnings help you isolate risks before outages occur, reducing the chance of short circuits, corrosion, and damage to critical power infrastructure.
  • Seamless integration with HPE G2 PDUs: Designed to work in harmony with the HPE G2 PDU family, the sensor plugs into existing management architecture. It feeds leak data to the central PDU management console, enabling unified monitoring, streamlined incident response, and cohesive reporting across your data center environment.
  • Multi-channel alerting for rapid response: In addition to on-device LED indicators, the sensor supports notification through SNMP traps and email so operators can react quickly from on-site control rooms or remote monitoring platforms. This multi-channel approach ensures no leak goes unseen, even during maintenance windows or after-hours.
  • Rugged, rack-ready design: Built to withstand the harsh conditions of data centers—dust, vibration, and temperature variations—this sensor features a robust housing and mounting options that fit neatly around PDUs without adding clutter or hindering airflow.
  • Scalable, energy-efficient monitoring: The compact sensor delivers continuous monitoring with minimal power draw, making it suitable for growing rack environments and multi-rack deployments. It provides a cost-effective, scalable solution that can expand as your data center footprint expands.

How to install HPE G2 PDU Leak Detection Sensor

Proper installation starts with safety and a clear plan for your data center environment. Begin by verifying that installation adheres to your facility’s safety policies and that you have the appropriate PPE and power-down procedures in place if required by local guidelines. Identify mounting locations around the PDU where moisture exposure is most likely—between outlets, at cord conduits, and near cable bundles that can channel moisture. Use the included mounting brackets or adhesive mounting pads to attach the sensor firmly to the rack or PDU chassis, ensuring the sensing elements have an unobstructed exposure to the relative airspace near potential leakage sources. Keep airflow in mind: position the sensor so it does not obstruct cooling paths or airflow channels around the PDU lineup. Connect the sensor to the PDU management network using the provided cabling or wireless bridge, following the specific wiring diagram included in the installation guide. Once connected, power up the device and verify that LED status indicators illuminate as expected, confirming a healthy link to the monitoring system. Access the PDU management console or DCIM integration portal to configure alert thresholds—set sensible moisture baselines and define escalation paths to ensure on-call engineers receive timely notifications. Conduct a functional test by simulating a controlled moisture source or using the sensor’s built-in testing feature, and confirm that alerts propagate to the designated recipients and monitoring dashboards. After testing, document the installation details, including serial numbers, firmware versions, mounting locations, alert configurations, and contact points for ongoing maintenance. Finally, schedule periodic verification tests and firmware updates to maintain alignment with evolving data center safety standards and the latest HPE recommendations.

Frequently asked questions

What is the HPE G2 PDU Leak Detection Sensor used for?

The HPE G2 PDU Leak Detection Sensor is designed to continuously monitor the area around PDU outlets and wiring for signs of moisture. By providing early alarms and integration with management software, it helps prevent water-related hazards, electrical faults, and potential downtime in data centers and rack environments.

How does the leak detection sensor alert the team?

Alerts are delivered through multiple channels to ensure timely response: on-device LED indicators provide immediate local feedback, while SNMP traps and email notifications enable central monitoring and rapid escalation within DCIM or network operations workflows.

Is the HPE G2 PDU Leak Detection Sensor compatible with existing HPE G2 PDUs?

Yes. The sensor is designed to integrate with the HPE G2 PDU ecosystem, enabling seamless monitoring alongside other power and environmental management features within the same platform. This compatibility simplifies deployment and consolidates data for a unified view of data-center health.

What environments benefit most from this sensor?

Any environment with elevated moisture risk around electrical infrastructure can benefit—from traditional data centers and high-density server rooms to edge deployments and colocation facilities. The sensor is optimized for rack-level monitoring where early leak detection can avert costly outages and equipment damage.

What should I consider during installation?

Plan placement to maximize coverage of potential leakage points, maintain clear airflow, and avoid obstructing access to power outlets. Ensure network connectivity for alert delivery, configure appropriate notification channels, and routinely test the sensor to confirm reliable operation. Keep a log of firmware updates and maintenance activities to support ongoing reliability and compliance with safety standards.

Little Small On The Wrist
Really cool timepiece, been loving timex a lot recently, this is me coming over Casio/G-shocks. Although it is a bit smaller on the wrist it still looks very nice and I really love the gray and like green color contrast. Really easy to read the time as well.

Sturdy and digital
This watch has “ fake screws” holding the band on . The band is actually held on by the usual pins holding it on most watches but weaker . The pin came off while I was putting it on for the first time! This is the second time I bought off Amazon in 2 weeks where the watch appeared to be sturdy and the pins fell off . Going back to military watches that have material straps that go completely around wrist and do not have pressure on pins

Ten years of ownership…Thank you, Timex!
Color: Black, Size: One Size
Solid watch for everyday wear. I have worn this watch for over 10 years. I let a watch shop replace the battery about every 18 months. Other than the original band (which lasted 5 years) I have had zero problems. Still looks great, rugged and manly😇 Overall I recommend this watch for its value, reliability, simple clear design, legible hands in all light conditions. Great watch!!!

Solid Watch for Everyday Casual Wear
Color: Black, Size: One Size
I have purchased this item other times and I’m quite satisfied with wearing this watch everyday with casual wear. The size is just right not too small or large.

Nice simple effective inexpensive watch
Color: Black, Size: One Size
I just ordered my second one of these. They are cheap, keep good time, show me the date, and last a long time. My last one lasted over 10 years. The only thing wrong with the last one was that the battery needed replacement (I think it was only the second time it had needed a battery in all the years I had owned it) at the same time the band wore out and broke. Rather than buy a new battery plus a new band, I just got a new one. I am hard on watches, and this one stood up very well. I regularly shower and swim with it on, and no problems. It doesn't have a lot of functions I don't need, like stopwatch, multiple time zones, etc. I have found those things more of a bother than a benefit, because any time you bump the knob against something, the display changes and you're always pressing all the buttons multiple times just to get the simple info needed- like what time is it and what is the date DEC 2020 UPDATE - I am ordering another one of these. The last one, I bought in mid 2019. Early in 2020, the date function quit working. By the end of November, the whole thing quit working. I know it's not the battery, because the light still works. So I am reducing my review by one star, and we'll see how well a new one does. The watch before the current one lasted about 10 years, so getting only a little over a year out of the current one is not good. Perhaps the current one just wasn't as good as the previous ones. It's entirely possible that they keep making the same watch out of lesser and lesser materials and workmanship.
