1887 Map of South Africa by Alexander MerenskyThe 1887 Original Map of South Africa by Reverend Alexander Merensky presents one of the most comprehensive depictions of southern Africa at the height of the late 19th century colonial and missionary period. The 1887 Original Map of South Africa by Reverend Alexander Merensky presents one of the most comprehensive depictions of southern Africa at the height of the late 19th-century colonial and missionary period. Extending from the Cape Colony to the Zambezi River, it captures a continent in transition — where British and Boer territories, independent African kingdoms, and missionary networks coexisted on the eve of the Scramble for Africa. Merensky, a German missionary, linguist, and ethnographer of the Berlin Missionary Society, drew on decades of field experience to produce a map that combined colonial surveys, indigenous oral knowledge, and missionary records with exceptional ethnographic detail. It shows the Cape Colony, Natal, the Transvaal, and the Orange Free State, alongside African polities such as the Zulu, Basotho, and Matabele, and highlights mission stations, trade routes, and transport links like wagon roads and emerging railways. Created just after the discovery of gold (1886) and amid growing imperial rivalry, Merensky’s map reflects both scholarly intent and colonial utility—a document bridging scientific cartography and imperial expansion, while preserving invaluable insight into the political and cultural geography of pre-Union South Africa.

This map is a reproduction of a historical map that is now in the public domain. It has been selected for its aesthetic appeal and historical interest and carefully restored and reproduced to preserve its original detail and character.  There may be marks and fold lines visible which add to the authentic look.  The map is printed on 230gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish.  Most old maps were printed on uncoated rag or wood pulp papers and therefore a matte finish best represents the original map.

Gorgeous scarf
Color: Grey Melange
Very soft good quality cashmere. I've ordered some items that claim to be cashmere that are either not cashmere at all, or just poor quality. This scarf, by Style Republic, is excellent. It's exactly what cashmere SHOULD be but often isn't, when purchased online. The scarf is gorgious, feels great on, just a really nice every day scarf for cold weather Suitable for men or women--I love it, my husband loves it. recommended!

Super Soft, But Pricy
Color: Black, Color: Black
I have other cashmere items, and this feels the same. Super soft, no itch at all... just a great fabric for skin contact. Mine measures about 69 inches long. To put some other reviews into context, when many of us early reviewers got this, the item's product page title was, "Style Republic Men's 100% Cashmere Extra Long Scarf" - It now says, "Style Republic Men's Solid Colored 100% Pure Cashmere Scarf | 20" x 68" inches" which is more accurate. Apart from that early description issue, there really isn't anything wrong with this scarf. For cashmere, this is an good price for how much fabric is used, and the workmanship is good. The tags are really easy to remove, as they're looped on with just a couple strands. Thank you so much for that!

So soft perfect for cold weather
Color: Nougat
This is a great scarf, definitely could be used for either men or women. I got the Nougat color, so it could go with different colors, and it’s gorgeous beige. I’m heading into colder climate this winter and I needed something that would be warm. My girlfriend also really likes it and she has been asking to wear it! It came in just a regular plastic packaging, and I wish it was packaged a little nicer for such a beautiful scarf. It is on the longer side, so you could wrap it a few times around you if you’re a shorter person. Definitely worth the get!

Black Cashmere Scarf
Color: Black
This is an extra long black cashmere scarf. It could be a men's/women's product but is sold as a men's scarf. It is 20" x 68" and has a very soft feel. It can be doubled if you want it thicker. I'm happy with the quality and appearance of this scarf.
