By: Tomiko Brown-NaginA TIME BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR • The first major biography of one of our most influential judges—an activist lawyer who became the first Black woman appointed to the federal judiciary—that provides an eye-opening account of the twin struggles for gender equality and civil rights in the 20th Century. • “Timely and essential."—The Washington Post
“A must-read for anyone who dares to believe that equal justice under the law is possible and is in search of a model for how to make it a reality.” —Anita Hill
With the US Supreme Court confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson, “it makes sense to revisit the life and work of another Black woman who profoundly shaped the law: Constance Baker Motley” (CNN). Born to an aspirational blue-collar family during the Great Depression, Constance Baker Motley was expected to find herself a good career as a hair dresser. Instead, she became the first black woman to argue a case in front of the Supreme Court, the first of ten she would eventually argue. The only black woman member in the legal team at the NAACP's Inc. Fund at the time, she defended Martin Luther King in Birmingham, helped to argue in Brown vs. The Board of Education, and played a critical role in vanquishing Jim Crow laws throughout the South. She was the first black woman elected to the state Senate in New York, the first woman elected Manhattan Borough President, and the first black woman appointed to the federal judiciary.
Civil Rights Queen captures the story of a remarkable American life, a figure who remade law and inspired the imaginations of African Americans across the country. Burnished with an extraordinary wealth of research, award-winning, esteemed Civil Rights and legal historian and dean of the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, Tomiko Brown-Nagin brings Motley to life in these pages. Brown-Nagin compels us to ponder some of our most timeless and urgent questions--how do the historically marginalized access the corridors of power? What is the price of the ticket? How does access to power shape individuals committed to social justice? In Civil Rights Queen, she dramatically fills out the picture of some of the most profound judicial and societal change made in twentieth-century America.

I wear a women’s size 9.5 and I got a size Medium. They fit perfect, they aren’t super heavy, but have cushion where needed. Perfect for my steel toe boots

Quality and durable socks
Size: Large, Color: White (6-pairs), Number of Items: 6
Great quality socks. This pack was a lot taller on the cuff and bigger than previous batches I have had. Not sure what the change was, but giving it 4 instead of 5 because I preferred the smaller shorter ones they previously made. But these are great quality socks, and last a long time.

A Game-Changer for Comfort
Size: Medium, Color: Black, Number of Items: 6
I recently upgraded my workout gear with the Under Armour Training Cotton Quarter Socks, and I must say, these socks have revolutionized my exercise experience. Comfortable, durable, and stylish, they truly stand out in the crowded world of athletic socks.
First and foremost, the comfort level of these socks is unparalleled. The blend of cotton and synthetic materials provides a soft and plush feel against my feet, making every step a pleasure. The quarter length strikes the perfect balance, offering ample coverage without being too restrictive or too short. It's like walking on clouds, even during the most intense workouts.
One of the standout features is the moisture-wicking technology. I've worn these socks during high-intensity cardio sessions, and they have consistently kept my feet dry and comfortable. The breathability is remarkable, preventing that uncomfortable feeling of sweaty feet that often accompanies strenuous workouts. No more distractions – just focus on pushing through your fitness routine.
Durability is another strong suit of these socks. After numerous washes, they maintain their shape and elasticity, showing no signs of wear and tear. The reinforced heel and toe areas provide extra support, ensuring longevity and preventing the dreaded sock holes that often plague other brands.
The sleek design of the Under Armour Training Cotton Quarter Socks adds a touch of style to my workout attire. The subtle logo and choice of colors make them versatile enough to pair with any athletic shoes. Whether you're hitting the gym, going for a run, or simply running errands, these socks seamlessly blend fashion with function.
In terms of sizing, I found that they fit true to size. The elastic band around the arch provides a snug yet comfortable fit, ensuring that the socks stay in place throughout any activity.
While the price point may be slightly higher than some other options on the market, the quality and performance of the Under Armour Training Cotton Quarter Socks more than justify the investment. When it comes to comfort, durability, and style, these socks have become an indispensable part of my workout wardrobe.
