The Eaton Tripp Lite Series Gigabit Multimode Fiber to Ethernet Media Converter with POE+ combines high-speed data transfer and reliable Power over Ethernet delivery over fiber. Designed for seamless integration into LANs, this media converter bridges fiber and copper networks at gigabit speeds while supplying power to PoE+ devices over long distances. With an 850 nm multimode fiber interface and a sturdy SC connection, it unlocks flexible deployment for IP cameras, wireless access points, and other PoE+ endpoints, all while maintaining low latency and easy plug-and-play operation. Ideal for campuses, office buildings, and industrial environments, this converter delivers both data and power where you need them most, far beyond traditional copper limits.

  • Gigabit performance over fiber: Transmit data at 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation to ensure optimal link speed between your PoE+ devices and network core, delivering robust bandwidth for video, access control, and high-speed data traffic.
  • PoE+ power delivery: Supports IEEE 802.3at PoE+, enabling power to be provided to compatible devices over the Ethernet interface, reducing the need for separate power supplies and simplifying cabling in remote or hard-to-reach locations.
  • SC multimode fiber interface, 850 nm wavelength: The 850 nm multimode fiber option is optimized for shorter-distance, high-bandwidth links, delivering reliable signal integrity across typical campus and building deployments.
  • Extended reach beyond copper limits: With a practical operating distance of up to 550 meters (1804 feet) on multimode fiber, you can connect devices far from the original switch or router, minimizing the need for repeaters or active extenders.
  • Simple, flexible installation: Designed for easy integration into existing networks, this media converter supports plug-and-play deployment with minimal configuration, letting you unlock PoE+ networking quickly without specialized tools.

How to install Eaton Tripp Lite Series Gigabit Multimode Fiber to Ethernet Media Converter, POE+ - 10/100/1000 SC, 850 nm, 550M

  • Position the media converter near the devices it will connect, keeping power and network cabling organized and within standard routing paths.
  • Connect the SC multimode fiber optic cable to the SC fiber port on the converter, ensuring a clean, secure connection without excessive bend radius.
  • Attach the RJ-45 Ethernet cable from the network switch, router, or PoE+ capable device to the converter’s copper port, enabling gigabit communication with auto-negotiation.
  • Provide power to the media converter using the appropriate external power source per the product’s guidelines, enabling PoE+ delivery to downstream devices as required.
  • Power on the converter and verify link status indicators to confirm a stable connection. If necessary, reposition cables to optimize performance and minimize interference or physical strain.
  • Test end-to-end connectivity by transmitting traffic from the PoE+ device (such as an IP camera or access point) through the converter to the rest of the network, ensuring data integrity and reliable power delivery.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the maximum distance this converter can run over multimode fiber? Up to 550 meters (approximately 1804 feet) at 850 nm, which extends network reach well beyond typical copper runs while maintaining Gigabit performance.

You Get What You Pay For! A Piece Of Junk!
Size: 1 Panel
Flimsy and a piece of junk. Don’t waste your money. Assembly is a pain because it is so flimsy. Divider is thin. You can see right through it. Very wobbly.

Instructions are useless
Size: 1 Panel
The instructions are poorly written and not very helpful. The divider itself is easy to assemble, and honestly, it would’ve been quicker if I had skipped the directions altogether. Once put together, though, it works as intended.

This was the best
Size: 1 Panel
This divider is great for creating a little privacy or separating a small area without taking up much space. The fabric is thick enough to block visual clutter, and the frame is lightweight but stable once it’s opened. It folds flat for storage, which is convenient if you only need it occasionally. Assembly was straightforward, and it was the perfect size. It’s a practical piece for apartments, studios, or home offices where you want a quick, temporary partition.

Good privacy screen
Size: 1 Panel, Size: 1 Panel
This is a good privacy screen that's easy to assemble and looks nice. Be a little careful moving it, as the corners can twist. It's sturdy once in place, and the thick material is completely opaque. If the folds bother you, you might want to iron it, but I'm happy with it as is.

Lightweight divider that works well for video call backgrounds
Size: 1 Panel
This divider works fine for what it is, but it’s definitely on the lightweight side. Setup was very easy and only took a few minutes. The frame is fairly light, so it’s easy to move around or reposition if needed. That said, the tradeoff is that it’s not especially sturdy. It stands fine on its own but I wouldn’t expect it to handle much bumping or movement. I mainly bought it to use as a background for Zoom calls when I’m working from my den, and for that purpose it works great. The fabric panel blocks the room behind me and gives a cleaner background on camera. It’s not huge though. To keep the camera from seeing around it, I have to position it directly behind my chair. If you’re expecting it to divide a large room or create a big privacy barrier, it may feel a bit small. Overall, it does the job and works well for temporary setups or video call backgrounds, but the lightweight frame keeps it from feeling like a premium divider. The product description and photos are accurate.
