The unit delivers flexible, high-speed 10/100/1000 Mbps connectivity on the copper RJ45 side while offering a configurable SFP port that accepts a range of transceivers for fiber links. Ideal for industrial facilities, surveillance networks, data-center edge deployments, and any site where space is at a premium, this media converter enables you to extend your network securely and efficiently over fiber. Its rugged construction, broad operating temperature range, and support for both single-mode and multi-mode fiber make it a versatile and future-proof solution for your network resilience goals.

  • Flexible fiber-extension design: Convert a copper Gigabit Ethernet signal to fiber optic for remote connectivity, enabling you to extend LAN segments without costly copper runs. This hardened media converter is perfect for edge deployments, remote buildings, or data-center interconnects where distance and environmental exposure are factors.
  • Modular SFP port for versatile fiber options: The customizable SFP slot accepts a variety of transceivers, allowing you to tailor the link to your fiber type and distance. Whether you need single-mode for long-haul links or multi-mode for shorter runs, you can optimize cost and performance with ease.
  • Rugged, industrial-grade hardware: Built to endure harsh environments, the hardened enclosure protects sensitive electronics from dust, vibration, and temperature swings. With an operating range of -10°C to 60°C, it thrives in warehouses, manufacturing floors, outdoor cabinets, and other challenging settings.
  • Powerful, compliant and future-ready: Powered via DC input for compatibility with standard industrial power systems. The device is TAA-compliant, making it suitable for procurement in government and other regulated sectors where traceability and compliance matter.
  • Plug-and-play reliability with standard Ethernet behavior: Designed for simple installation with minimal setup. The copper port supports auto-negotiation for seamless interaction with a wide range of Ethernet devices, reducing installation time and troubleshooting.

How to Install Tripp Lite Hardened Gigabit Fiber to Ethernet Media Converter

  • Plan your fiber path and select the appropriate SFP transceiver for the fiber type (single-mode or multi-mode) and connector type. Ensure the SFP module is compatible with the media converter.
  • Insert the chosen SFP transceiver into the SFP slot on the media converter and secure it according to the device’s guidelines.
  • Connect the fiber optic patch cable between the SFP transceiver and the remote device, verifying that you have the correct fiber type, distance, and connector standard.
  • Connect a copper Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port on the media converter, linking it to the local network device (switch, router, or PC) on your side of the link.
  • Provide DC power to the media converter using the appropriate power supply. Once powered, verify the status indicators to confirm a healthy copper link and fiber connection.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the primary use of this device? It is designed to extend Ethernet networks over fiber by converting copper Ethernet signals to fiber and transmitting them to a distant network device, ideal for remote sites, data-center interconnects, and industrial environments.
  • Does this media converter support both single-mode and multimode fiber? Yes. The SFP port is designed to be compatible with a range of SFP transceivers, enabling single-mode for long-haul links and multimode for shorter runs, depending on the installed module.
  • Is any configuration required to operate the device? No. This is typically an unmanaged, plug-and-play media converter; it auto-negotiates the copper port and establishes a fiber link with the installed SFP module, simplifying deployment.
  • What are the environmental limits? It operates from -10°C to 60°C and is built with a rugged enclosure to withstand challenging environments such as warehouses, plants, and outdoor cabinets when properly protected.
  • Is this product compliant with government procurement standards? Yes. The unit is TAA-compliant, making it suitable for purchases in government and other regulated contexts.

Ohhh Mr. Iguana
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Illana the Iguana - Large
Mr. Iguana is a house favorite! I got my first one of these in a barkbox and my dog loved it so much, i went on the hunt for another one. Amazon saved the day! I own about 7 of these now. They are prefect for dogs just love to chew, they hold up great! And they are heavy duty, super easy to clean! My dogs are very happy, great value for the money! Doesn't have a smell, vibrant colors! Noise level is quiet, minus my dogs chewing !

Not for strong chewers
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large
Initially, I really liked this for my dog. She is about 8 months old and still loves to chew and destroys most toys in a few minutes. When we got this, it seemed like it would hold up for a while despite being clearly gnawed on. Unfortunately, once she focused on the softer "water" portion of the toy, that is where things went downhill with this toy. After a few short chew sessions, she was tearing chunks out of it. We had purchased a replacement since she liked the original so much, and after about 5 minutes with the replacement, she had taken enough out of the blue section that we immediately threw that one out as well. Overall while the green portion held up, the blue didn't. I can't recommend this for strong chewers.

Definitely not indestructable
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large, Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large
I have a 1-year-old toy fox terrier (Rocky, pictured). He has been chewing on this toy for seven months now; it is one of his favorites. He has been unable to seriously damage the "ocean" portion of this toy, but as you can see from the provided image, the sea serpent has not faired that well. It is missing its snout and smaller portions of the humps. My guess is that the advertiser images showing much larger dogs with "like new" versions of the toy are just that...NEW AND UNCHEWED. I have not had to clean up bits of this toy from my floor, so I assume Rocky has been swallowing them. My hope is that the yellow material of the serpent is not chemically dangerous when exposed to digestive fluids. Rocky easily destroys plush toys in a matter of days if not hours and, consumed pieces of a small microfiber blanket that he liked to toss around and play tug-of-war with (past tense as he destroyed it and has since been trashed after I began finding feces-stained undigested pieces of it lying around). Since this toy has survived seven months and has remained recognizable, I have to agree it is durable. Just beware, if my small toy fox terrier can damage the toy as pictured, expect your large breed chewer to do similar or worse damage. Also, the toy is very heavy! When Rocky drops it down a flight of stairs, it makes a MAJOR thud at the bottom, and sometimes makes me wonder if it might crack the large tile at the bottom. I cautiously recommend the product. Note the yellow frisbee in Rocky's picture. It is only a few months old and surprisingly has not suffered any chew damage despite substantial abuse. It appears to bend in the wind like a proverbial reed, evading damage by yielding to pressure.

Best Option on the Market for True Power Chewers
Size: Large
My two Power Chewers never get through these! Every other “power chewer” toy doesn’t last more than a week, but Nylabone lasts for months. I don’t buy any other brand any more.

The dogs love them! They chew on them and carry them around inside and outside. They are very durable to the weather and a pit bull! Recommend
