Steady your network installations with a tool built for CAT6A UTP runs that demand precision. The Black Box CAT6A RJ-45 Crimp Tool - Unshielded is engineered to create flawless terminations on CAT6A unshielded bulk cable and unshielded RJ-45 modular plugs. Designed to handle the robust demands of professional installers, this crimp tool ensures secure, reliable connections that meet or exceed performance standards for high-speed networks. From data centers to office deployments, you need a termination tool you can trust. This model is purpose-built for unshielded plug applications and is compatible with Black Box’s FMTP6AU unshielded plugs, ensuring a seamless match between the plug and the cable. The result is a clean, professional termination you can count on for gigabit and 10-Gig deployments alike, with an emphasis on reliability, ease of use, and long-term durability. The tool’s rugged construction supports repeated use in challenging environments, while its ergonomic design minimizes hand fatigue during long installations. If you’re upgrading networks, expanding a campus, or wiring a new office, this crimp tool delivers consistent, repeatable crimps that installers can rely on day after day.

  • Premium termination for CAT6A UTP with exact diameter handling: The tool is designed to terminate CAT6A unshielded twisted pair cables with diameters of 8.3 mm up to 8.8 mm, accommodating the larger substrate and insulation found in modern CAT6A installations. It accepts 23-AWG conductors, a common gauge for high-performance copper networks, providing consistent bite and proper conductor seating inside FMTP6AU unshielded plugs. The result is a robust, low-impedance connection with minimal data loss and impedance mismatch, delivering stable performance under load and reducing the risk of future faults or crosstalk in dense patch panels. The precise forming jaws produce square crimps that align with the RJ-45 plug contacts, ensuring reliable electrical contact and safety margins suitable for Category 6A networks.
  • Unshielded plug optimization with FMTP6AU compatibility: This crimp tool is optimized for unshielded plugs and bulk cable, aligning perfectly with Black Box’s FMTP6AU unshielded RJ-45 modular plugs for CAT6A. The tool’s geometry is specifically engineered to create crimps that fit the unshielded plug’s contact geometry, supporting uniform pin seating and consistent termination depth. The compatibility minimizes assembly variance, a common source of performance degradation in installations where different plug and cable types are mixed. For installers, this means fewer re-terminations and quicker turnover on large deployments, keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ergonomic design and dependable ratchet mechanism: The Black Box CAT6A crimp tool features an ergonomic handle design with cushioned grips to reduce operator fatigue during long-term use. The ratchet mechanism ensures a complete, even crimp before the tool releases, preventing partial crimps or incomplete terminations that can lead to intermittent connectivity. The solid construction provides reliable repeatable crimps across hundreds or thousands of terminations, helping installers achieve professional results with confidence. The tool’s controls are designed for one-handed operation, enabling you to hold and position cables while achieving precise alignment and crimp depth every time.
  • Durable build for professional environments: Built with hardened steel and corrosion-resistant finishes, the CAT6A RJ-45 crimp tool is designed to withstand the rigors of fieldwork, whether in data centers, wiring closets, or onsite installations. The tool’s jaw assembly resists wear from repeated use with 23-AWG copper conductors, maintaining tight tolerances for many cycles. A compact, balanced form factor makes it easy to maneuver in crowded cable runs and behind patch panels, while the tool’s weight distribution reduces hand strain. In addition, the tool resists damage from accidental drops or heavy-duty use, ensuring long service life and reduced replacement costs for professional installers.
  • Ease of use, setup, and compatibility with Black Box cable systems: The CAT6A crimp tool is designed for straightforward setup with Black Box’s CAT6A unshielded bulk cable and RJ-45 unshielded modular plugs, streamlining installation workflows. The device’s alignment features ensure that the jacket and insulation stay properly seated within the plug, while the 23-AWG accommodation ensures the conductor is captured securely. The tool is compatible with a range of unshielded bundles and is especially effective when used in conjunction with the company’s FMTP6AU plugs, enabling fast, reliable terminations with minimal effort. For technicians, this means reduced call-backs, faster cabling runs, and consistent performance across projects of any scale.

How to install Black Box CAT6A RJ-45 Crimp Tool - Unshielded

  • Prepare your CAT6A UTP cable by stripping the outer jacket to expose the twisted pairs, keeping the conductors clean and untwisted to achieve correct seating in the plug.
  • Trim each conductor to the proper length for your RJ-45 plug, maintaining uniform trim to ensure good contact with the plug pins.
  • Insert the prepared cable into the Black Box FMTP6AU unshielded RJ-45 modular plug, ensuring each 23-AWG conductor seats fully in its respective contact channel.
  • Place the plug into the crimp tool jaws, aligning the plug with the tool’s seating plane. Make sure the jacket abuts the plug’s heel so the termination depth is correct.
  • Squeeze the handles in a single, steady motion to engage the ratchet mechanism and complete the crimp. The tool should lock and release only after a full, uniform crimp is achieved.
  • Inspect the termination with a magnifier or test device to verify the seating depth and that all conductors are fully captured. If the crimp is incomplete or any conductor is misaligned, re-terminate with a fresh plug.

lower quality casting but very functional. reseason is a must. good purchase otherwise
Size: 2-Quart
this was an amazon primeday impulse buy. initially when reading the reviews i was skeptical of its quality at all and attempted to cancel but i could not(too late). i figured it wasnt the end of the world when it showed up as i only payed 20$ on sale for it. well, it turns out thats a steal of a deal for this pot. when i opened the package i checked it all over with a magnet. who knows it could be lower quality pot metal but its definitely ferrous material. the season on it is real, like what you find on a lodge pan but not done well, it was sticky. so i boiled a pot of water and scrubbed the lid and pot insides with a scour pad to remove most of it. it looks exactly like youd expect cast iron to look and it has a smell reminescent of a deseasoned wet cast pan. so i trust it. my version should be 2qt, i do not know if they make larger versions. i trust it to work in the future and it seems like itll make great stews and soups. possibly even a good camp pot if youre into carrying cast iron with you. its not massive and its not overly heavy at maybe 3 lbs. it was a good buy and im happy with it. plan to add a bail so i can use it for camping as well as kitchen use. in conclusion its a lower quality casting but still very functional. it must be reseasoned to be useful but for the price i almost expect it. most cast iron cookware are not made to the spec they used to be and thus require love from the owner to really work well.

Amazing Dutch!
I've been on a cast iron craze recently. I think back to college when I'd watch Yan Can Cook, and Chef Martin Yan would lean over into the pan and say, "It's got to be hot hot!" I finally realize what he means after all these years of cooking. Heat makes for awesome cooking. It gives wok hei. It makes the difference between a juicy, seared steak vs a dry, tough one. When I discovered this secret, I was like a kid in a candy store, picking this cast iron, that cast iron, another cast iron, please. When I bought the 5 quart Amazon Basics dutch oven, I figured that at the low price, if it came with issues, it wouldn't be an expensive loss. I was impressed with the packaging. Amazon did not want this pot to break, so it had form fitted Styrofoam everywhere, pot and cover nicely separated. There was a nice Amazon Basics logo on the bottom of the pot. Upon close inspection, I thought I found a hairline crack on the cover. It seems when they casted it, part of the iron folded over on itself and formed the line. Someone then took a sander and sanded part of it slightly. What I thought was the hairline crack was actually the edge of the polished surface. The next day, I cooked bacon in it. I fired up the Camp Chef Explorer stove and cooked two pieces of bacon in the pot. I also flipped the cover upside down and cooked two pieces of bacon in it. The cover makes a very nice ad-hoc skillet. After it cooled, I inspected the cover again, and it is not a hairline crack. The bacon seasoning started covering up both the polished and unpolished surface into a nice, uniform seasoning. The following day, I made chicken stew in it. While carmelizing the onions and carrots, I made another nice discovery. The flat bottom lends itself nicely to efficient stir frying. Sometimes, in a wok, I come across the problem of the bamboo spatula not being able to get under the food, so I end up chasing the food up the sides of the wok unable to flip it. The part of this dutch oven where the bottom meets the sides creates a nice angle that pushes the food onto my bamboo spatula for easy flipping. Yesterday, I took it to my parents' house and made artisan bread in it. Everyone was impressed with the crispiness of the bread crust. Everyone came back for seconds. Needless to say, I no longer have the dutch oven. My mom liked it so much I gave it to her. It's almost Mother's Day, and who would say no to their mom? *ahem* Amazon...another cast iron, please! LOL PS: The lid fits a 10 inch skillet but not a 10.25 inch skillet. It falls into a 10.25 skillet.

Perfect for Bread
Size: 2-Quart
I bought this to make the bread in the book "Bittman Bread" by Mark Bittman and Kerri Conan, which I also bought here on Amazon. This Dutch Oven has been working perfectly for the last 6 months of baking. As a bonus, it's much less expensive that the same size Lodge pot. I've got a 5-1/2 quart regular and a 7-1/2 quart enameled both from Lodge and use them all the time for stuff, but I only use this 2 qt for the bread, usually more than once a week. It's great. Look up that "Bittman Bread" book and buy it from Amazon (I don't think you can insert links in the review), then definitely buy this Dutch Oven. I highly recommend both.

Excellent Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven
Color: Red, Size: 5Qt
This Dutch oven has quickly become my favorite piece of cookware in the kitchen. The enamel coating makes cleanup surprisingly easy, even after slow-cooked meals. It heats evenly and keeps food warm for a long time after cooking. I’ve used it for soups, roasts, pasta dishes, and homemade bread with amazing results every time. The red color is beautiful and looks great sitting on the stovetop. It feels heavy and durable without being impossible to handle. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a high-quality and versatile cooking pot.
