Plug In ICA launched Rodney Graham: Send Your Child to Art School on January 31, 2015 at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra on the Piano Nobile Wall as part of the Winnipeg New Music Festival.

The citywide poster campaign “Send Your Child to Art School” (2015) was produced by world-renowned Canadian artist Rodney Graham. This commission was distributed throughout Winnipeg. This poster series reformulates an earlier work by Graham, taking his message street-level to provoke conversations concerning the arts, artists’ roles in society, and the priorities of our educational institutions. Graham’s sentiment challenges common criticism of artists and the arts as being non-productive contributors to society. His straightforward directive inversely draws attention to the importance of cultural production as part of building complex and reflective citizens.

Rodney Graham, one of Canada’s foremost artists, came to international acclaim in the visual artists for his presentation of Vexation Island at the Venice Biennial in 1997. His early work often used the loop as a formal principle of narration drawing uncanny dream-like repetitions. Throughout his practice, Graham has played both image-maker and image as he uses himself to portray an array of historic and fictional characters: from the amateur painter and musician to the lighthouse keeper and scientist. Repeated representations of the artist as a persona figure throughout Graham’s works so much so that his portrayal of the modernist painter has led to him making abstract paintings. He is also an accomplished musician who has played worldwide and is soon to release a 7-inch with music icon Kim Gordon. He has had major exhibitions of his work at the Museum of Modern Art, LA; Whitechapel, London, UK; Dia Centre for the Arts, NYC; Hamburger Kunsthalle; and MACBA, Barcelona. He has numerous publications on his work and has been featured in Artforum, Afterall, Frieze among many others.

Grand daughter likes them, she is 2 1/2 .win win!!
Size: 7 Toddler, Color: Tan
My grand daughter loves these shoes. She is 2 1/2. They are comfortable on her. Her favorite was the white 360 walking shoe but they unfortunately don’t make them in toddler size. (Hint: make them in larger sizes - and why not? ). So I got her these. Stride Rite are good, comfortable shoes for little ones.

Could Be Better
Size: 11 Little Kid, Color: Tan
Look cute for a little while, then the toes peel as shown by other reviewers. It’s such a shame because my four year old LOVES the sparkly stars on the toes. I wish they made a more expensive version in a material that wouldn’t look worn so quickly.

Wonderful, sturdy shoe
Size: 9 Toddler, Color: Tan
I love this shoe. Unfortunately I ordered a size too small this time, but it really is a great shoe.

Great boots for fall and winter, but too short for deep snow.
Size: 9 Toddler, Color: Navy
This is the second round of these boots I bought for my kids. They are comfortable for all day at school, like sneakers. Perfect for wet days, feet stay dry and warm. They are not snow boots. We live in Boston and they are not for more than an inch or two of snow. I buy separate true snow boots for snow days (much warmer and taller boots).

Perfect Winter Boots
Size: 8 Toddler, Color: Navy
I bought these for a trip to Iceland for my little one. They held up perfectly to lots of walking and playing! No break in period, and my little one was comfy the entire time! Warm happy feet is what you can expect with these boots!
