Hand-signed acrylic original artwork by Yama.

‘Corporate Dominance’ originated from what initially appeared to be a light-hearted observation during a visit to Disneyland. Exploring the tension between perceived freedom of choice and the reality of corporate control, YAMA questions how much of that choice is predetermined by agreements, partnerships, and commercial systems operating behind the scenes.

At the centre of the painting is Mickey Mouse, a symbol closely associated with corporate entertainment culture. He is depicted drinking from a Coca-Cola bottle, yet his expression suggests discomfort rather than enjoyment. One hand rest on his stomach while his sad expression implies reluctance, as though he has been forced into the act rather than choosing it willingly. This visual narrative becomes a metaphor for the broader theme of constrained choice and corporate influence.

The inspiration for the artwork came from learning that Coca-Cola became the exclusive cola provider within Disneyland after securing a commercial agreement that removed Pepsi from the parks. For YAMA, this seemingly ordinary business decision represented a larger conversation about how powerful corporations can shape consumer experiences while maintaining the appearance of choice.

Visually, the artwork adopts a faded monochromatic palette inspired by the appearance of early Disney cartoons from the 1950s. This nostalgic aesthetic references Disneyland's origins in 1955 and evokes a sense of looking back at a different era. The use of black-and-white tones creates a feeling of memory and reflection, reinforcing the historical context behind the work.

Adding to this sense of nostalgia is the faint, ghost-like Pepsi logo positioned within the background. Barely visible, it acts as a symbolic reminder of a time when competing brands coexisted within the same space. Its faded presence suggests a forgotten alternative—a choice that once existed but has gradually disappeared from public memory.

By transforming a simple observation into a layered visual narrative, YAMA highlights one of the recurring themes throughout his practice: the ongoing tension between individual freedom and the systems that influence how people think, consume, and engage with the world around them.

Short, petite girls this looks funny and hits weirdly around the waist. Need to be tall and thin to make this dress look good. 5'1, size 6.

i LOVE these sunglass. I found some at TJ Maxx for 12 bucks on sale because they were cracked. Tried them on and new I wanted to find them only. They are not too big for my face, but could be form some people. I wore them every day on vacation in Mexico, and the sunshine did not bother me.

i had bought these prior in dilards, but in a darker color. i fell in love with them and when they got scratched up i got so sad. i accidentally stumbled upon them here in this lighter color and OMG they’re so much nicer in this color! you don’t nearly see the scratches as much or if even. and it looks so much nicer with all of the colors i wear. it fits the face so beautifully. gorgeous!
