Narasimha Lakshmi - This brass sculpture shows Boar faced incarnation of Lord Vishnu known as Narasimha (Boar). It is beleived that Narasimha killed a demon called Hiranyaksha and freed the Goddess Earth or Lakshmi from him from the underwaters where snakes guarded the Earth for the demon. The hooded snake under the left feet of Lord Narasimha denotes that he controls them and had no fear of them. The freed goddess is seen sitting on his elbow. Another explanation of the statue is that Goddess Earth is a form of Goddess Lakshmi, who is consort of Lord Vishnu (in this case Narasimha, the boar) meaning Narasimha is having his consort Lakshmi on his elbow. In few statues Narasimha is shown having a globe resting on his tusks that symbolizes that he freed the Goddess Earth and lifted her on his tusks to place her back in the Universe.
