| Background | Interleukin-2 (IL-2, also known as TCGF) is a 15-16 kda monomeric α-helical glycoprotein belonging to the type I cytokine family. Mouse IL-2 precursor is a 169-amino acid (AA) peptide containing a 20-amino acid signal sequence and a 149-amino acid mature chain. There is an additional potential site for O-linked glycosylation, as well as a polyglutamine region at residues 35 to 46. It is worth noting that mouse IL-2 has multiple alleles, resulting in differences in the number of glutamine at amino acids 21-46 and the number of TSSS repeats in the mouse IL-2 sequence (SwissProt#:P04351). The amino acid sequence of mature mouse IL-2 shared 56% and 73% identity with human and rat IL-2, respectively, with the major difference located in the polyglutamine region. There is some cross-reactivity between mouse and human IL-2. Functionally, IL-2 was originally recognized as a T-cell growth factor and, therefore, was used in the treatment of cancer and AIDS patients, as well as to enhance the immune response. However, these efforts have had limited effect. "Experimental studies have shown that mice lacking IL-2 or its receptor also develop lymphoproliferation and autoimmune diseases, suggesting that IL-2 is a growth-limiting rather than growth-inducing factor." Recent studies have shown that the real cause of lymphocyte proliferation is the inability to produce CD4+FoxP3+CD25/IL-2Rα+Treg cells. Notably, IL-2 is now recognized as essential for successful induction of recall responses in CD8+ memory cells. It is well known that mammalian cells expressing IL-2 include CD4+ and CD8+T cells, NK cells, NKT cells, and dendritic cells. The IL-2 receptor is complex and consists of three different subunits. Two of these subunits can bind ligands and are termed IL-2Rα and IL-2Rβ. IL-2Rα is 55kDa and binds IL-2 with low affinity. Il-1β, 75kDa, is also a component of the IL-15 receptor and binds IL-2 with moderate affinity. Signal transduction is mediated by IL-2Rβ and a 64kDa common γ chain (γc). γc shares receptors with IL-4, -7, -9, -15 and -21. Signal transducerγc does not bind to IL-2 but heterodimerizes with IL-2Rβ to form a functional IL-2 receptor. Easy on/off because they really do stretch but return to shape. Fit is close to the body but not tight. Love that there is no elastic binding around my legs. Clothes glide over them because they are super smooth. Might never buy another style again.

These were such a RELIEF during a shingles outbreak!

I developed shingles on my abdomen and spent a few days commando because I was in so much pain and couldn’t stand anything against my skin but a nightgown. I had a drs appointment and was agonizing about showing up in a nightgown and bathrobe at the office. Then I I remembered my grandma used to wear boy leg high waisted undies so looked for something similar. These underpants by Fruit of the Loom were inexpensive and seemed to be similar to what I thought might work, so I ordered a four pack. They were very reasonably priced and when they arrived were of very good quality and well made. They were snugger fitting than I had hoped but were very very soft for tender areas on my abdomen. As it was, the snugness was comforting as they stay in place and act as a barrier between the sore rash areas and light clothing. I’ve never experienced the discomfort of nerve pain from wearing clothes andI’m so glad I happened on to these. I’m on the mend now but still wearing these as I’ve developed some neuralgia and these continue to keep me comfortable.

i purchased the boxer brief. they fit perfectly. they are fairly soft and seemingly comfortable. not too thin or too thick, good for breathability. my biggest issues are the stitching being poorly done, making me worry the longevity will be lacking and the label stating “do not use fabric softener”.
the reason i am annoyed though, is the images show pink and gray colors only, which is what i was hoping for, or at least colors only. i understand all multipacks are marked “colors may vary”, but for the love of god, stop putting white pairs in these packs. white, nudes/neutrals, and black should be sold separately in their own packs. i do not want ugly old timey white underwear. i wanted colors, any colors EXCEPT white! i would however, have LOVED an all black only pack!
