Meet the HPE M-Series 100GbE QSFP28 1310nm PSM4 500m Transceiver, a purpose-built fiber interconnect that blends speed, reliability, and scalability for modern data centers. When organizations deploy dense compute resources—whether in cloud-scale, high-performance computing, or enterprise virtualization—the need for consistently strong uplinks between servers and top-of-rack or aggregation switches becomes a bottleneck. The HPE StoreFabric M-Series transceivers are engineered to address this challenge by delivering multi-gigabit throughput with low, predictable latency, while reducing the number of hops across your fabric and simplifying cable plant management. This transceiver uses a 1310 nm PSM4 interface in a QSFP28 form factor, enabling four parallel lanes of 25 Gbps each, for a total of 100 Gbps of aggregate bandwidth. The 500-meter reach on single-mode fiber OS2 makes it ideal for mid-size to large data centers, campus networks, and inter-building connections, where longer fiber runs and higher connection quality are essential for maintaining service levels under peak load. By aligning with the HPE StoreFabric M-Series, you gain interoperability with other StoreFabric components and a coherent performance envelope across your fabric—so you can tune workloads, balance traffic, and preserve low latency as you scale. In practice, this means you can build more resilient fabrics that accommodate growth, support virtualization and containerized workloads, and deliver a more predictable, service-level friendly network. If you are upgrading existing interconnects or starting a new deployment, the HPE M-Series 100GbE QSFP28 PSM4 500m transceiver is designed to be a drop-in, field-proven solution that minimizes disruption while maximizing throughput and reliability. The combination of a robust 1310 nm channel, high-bandwidth lanes, and a proven form factor translates into a transceiver that engineers and IT managers can rely on for today’s data-intensive tasks and tomorrow’s expansion plans. It also aligns with environmental and energy-efficient design goals because it consolidates high capacity into a compact package, reducing cable clutter and helping to optimize cooling and airflow around dense switching environments. In short, this transceiver is about giving data centers, HPC clusters, and enterprise networks a foundation they can trust as they scale, migrate, and modernize without compromising on performance or service quality.

  • High-performance 100 GbE connection in a QSFP28 form factor using 4x25 Gbps PSM4 lanes, enabling parallel data transfer that reduces serialization delay and helps sustain throughput under heavy workloads. This design supports dense interconnects in data centers, HPC racks, and cloud deployments where every nanosecond counts. It also facilitates scalable uplinks from racks to aggregation layers, helping to simplify cabling strategies and minimize switch port contention.
  • 1310 nm short-reach transceiver optimized for low-latency interconnects across data centers. The 1310 nm window provides favorable attenuation characteristics on single-mode fiber, helping to maintain strong signal integrity across the 500-meter reach and enabling reliable operation in challenging cabling paths. This wavelength choice supports stable performance in environments with tight fiber routing and temperature variation, contributing to predictable latency and BER.
  • 500 meter reach over single-mode fiber OS2 with MPO/MTP-12 interface, empowering scalable topologies from top-of-rack to aggregation layers while simplifying fiber management in dense deployments. The long reach reduces the need for additional intermediate devices, lowers total cost of ownership, and enables flexible network designs that can adapt to future growth without rearchitecting the fabric.
  • Designed for HPE StoreFabric M-Series Interconnects to ensure consistent performance, compatibility, and reliability across the fabric. By aligning with StoreFabric’s performance goals, these transceivers help you achieve predictable latency, bandwidth, and error performance in multi-vendor environments while preserving interoperability with HPE partner ecosystems. This synergy supports streamlined management, easier troubleshooting, and a cohesive monitoring experience across the fabric.
  • Hot-pluggable, easily replaceable QSFP28 module that supports standard enterprise procedures for installation and maintenance. It snaps into a supported switch or server port with minimal downtime, enabling fast upgrades, field replacements, and non-disruptive maintenance in busy data centers. The rugged design is tuned for reliability in dense racks, and the module integrates smoothly with common management tools to simplify status checks and performance validation.

Built for HPE StoreFabric environments, it delivers reliable, scalable interconnects between compute nodes and switch fabrics.
  • What is PSM4, and how does it differ from other 100G transceivers? PSM4 stands for Parallel Single-Mode 4-lane. Unlike shared-lane 100G approaches, PSM4 uses four discrete 25 Gbps channels in parallel, enabling high-throughput, low-latency connections over single-mode fiber with multi-fiber connectors. This configuration is well-suited for short-to-mid-range data-center interconnects and reduces optical complexity in certain deployments.
  • What is the maximum reach of this transceiver? The transceiver is specified for a reach of up to 500 meters on single-mode OS2 fiber, making it appropriate for top-of-rack to aggregation links and campus-scale interconnects where longer fiber runs are required.
  • What fiber and connector does it use? It uses single-mode fiber (OS2) with an MPO/MTP-12 connector, common for parallel optical interconnects in 100G QSFP28 deployments.
  • Is it compatible with all 100G switches and servers? The transceiver is designed for compatibility with switches and servers that support QSFP28 100GBASE-PSM4 interfaces and store fabric ecosystems. Always verify vendor-specific compatibility and firmware requirements before purchase or installation to ensure optimal interoperability.
  • How do I install and verify a link after installation? Install the transceiver following the standard hot-swap or powered insertion procedure, connect the MPO/MTP-12 fiber, and power up the device. Great Interactive Option
Color: Blue
To start, I have been very happy with this purchase. A couple of key points for me are durability and being able to keep my dog's attention. I have had it for almost a year, just a month shy, and she hasn't managed to get through the foam outer shell even though she tries real hard to do so. Let's just say, she's hard to find toys for because of her habit of finding the point of failure where she can pick and gnaw at until the toy is no longer safe for her to have. With this toy, she not only found her match, but it also has her watching, waiting, and even stalking. Only one small issue has recently occurred: the motor has started having an issue where the charge doesn't hold, and it doesn't remain on afterwards. I have reached out to Cheerble directly to see about replacing it since I am still within their 12-month timeframe, and they responded right away.

Quality product for the right dog...
Color: Orange
Honestly it's a really cool product well constructed and moves around on its own with several different modes. The design id brilliant with a tough rubber ball that unscrew to expose the element that makes it move in the middle. The dog won't be able to unscrew it but you can if you ever need to replace the ball for any reason but it would take some work for a dog to destroy the outer ball. Almost like "Kong" type material. The ball is about the size of a softball and the element inside is about the size of a golf ball. I thought my dog would love this but she was afraid of it, which is strange because she's afraid of nothing. Anyways I gave it to my neighbor upstairs and she has a yorkshire terrier who plays with it all the time so it all worked out great. Quality product . Good job!

Durability
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
won’t give this product 1 star because my dog still had a good time with it for a few hours. After opening and preparing it, I gave it to my dog and it definitely caught his interest. However, when he chewed on it, plastic pieces started breaking off and he began swallowing them. This product is definitely not suitable for aggressive chewers.

Winner !!!
Color: Orange
This amazed us. For perspective, we're talking about a three year old white german shepherd who if he's in the mood, has and can kill a toy within minutes or oddly enough be gentle with furry balls and carry them around as if they are his babies. He's an odd duck. Anyway, since he was a pup, and to this day, he'll play and entertain himself, he'll grab a ball, throw it up in the air, then pounce on it as if it's from outer space. It's really quite cute and funny. Because of those two things I was looking for something interactive that would entertain him and confuse him....let's be honest, watching a confused dog is one of life's great pleasures. I tried two other interactive balls and they were crushed immediately. After reading a lot of reviews, people with german shepherds said this ball actually had a life span. I thought the third time could be the charm and ordered one. Well, I think it actually may be from outer space because he's obsessed with it and hasn't taken a bite out of it. He hasn't once chewed it or even teared little pieces off. The three settings are great. Sometimes he likes one better than another, then forgets about the others. I'll change it up to one he hasn't seen in a while and the whole game starts over again. He'll throw it up in the air as he does with his others, watch it and try to figure out which way it's going to go. And yes, he will pounce on it if he times it right. The size is perfect, it's heavier than your average ball but, that's what make it sturdy. I have to sneak it away when he isn't paying attention to charge it, otherwise he'll sit, stare and cry if he knows it's on the counter charging. It's a lot of fun for all of us. I'm so happy I bought it...... I say give this ball a chance even if you have a beast with killer instincts. I'm buying another for a friends 2 year old golden retriever granddog. Thank you Cheerble.
