How to install Lenovo 39Y8939 PDU

Installing the Lenovo 39Y8939 PDU is straightforward when you follow standard rack power practices and ensure compatibility with your current power topology. The installation process is designed to minimize downtime while delivering a cleaner, more maintainable power distribution path for your rack.

  • Plan your power topology: Confirm that your rack environment supports 200–220V service and that the PDU’s front-end design aligns with your existing universal rack PDUs and downstream devices.
  • Power down and isolate: Before installation, shut down affected equipment and disconnect power to prevent accidental energization during setup.
  • Prepare the rack: Position the Lenovo 39Y8939 in a suitable 19" rack and verify that there is ample clearance for heat dissipation and cable management. Secure the unit with the appropriate mounting screws according to your rack’s guidelines.
  • Connect input feeds: Attach the multiple input feeds from your universal rack PDUs to the front-end PDU’s input connections. Ensure that each feed is properly seated and secured, following the manufacturer’s wiring practices and applicable electrical codes.
  • Configure the output path: Route the single output line cord from the PDU to the rack’s power distribution path or directly to the devices within the rack as per your power plan. Make sure the line cord is properly dressed to avoid snagging or obstruction of airflow.
  • Power up and verify: Restore power and perform a step-by-step verification, confirming that all loads receive appropriate voltage and that there are no warning indicators. Check for stable operation, proper grounding, and that the consolidation path functions as intended.
  • Document and monitor: Update your rack documentation to reflect the new PDU topology and consider implementing additional monitoring or alerting on current, voltage, and load distribution to maintain optimal performance over time.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is the Lenovo 39Y8939 PDU?

A: The Lenovo 39Y8939 PDU is a 30A front-end power distribution unit designed as a line-cord consolidator. It accepts multiple feeds from universal rack PDUs and delivers power to the rack through a single output cord, enabling a cleaner, scalable approach to power distribution for modern data centers.

Q: What voltage and amperage does it support?

A: It supports 200–220V AC in a 30A configuration, offering robust power delivery suitable for dense server and networking equipment while maintaining compatibility with typical data-center electrical standards.

Q: How does line-cord consolidation benefit my rack?

A: Line-cord consolidation reduces cable clutter, improves airflow, simplifies power cabling management, and makes it easier to track and troubleshoot power delivery. By consolidating multiple feeds into a single output, maintenance and upgrades can be performed with reduced risk of miswiring or overloading individual cords.

Q: Can it work with universal rack PDUs?

A: Yes. The Lenovo 39Y8939 PDU is designed to accept feeds from universal rack PDUs, allowing you to mix and match with existing infrastructure without replacing every component. This flexibility helps maintain a scalable and cost-efficient power strategy.

Q: What should I consider during installation?

A: Key considerations include verifying voltage compatibility (200–220V), ensuring proper rack mounting, planning the input feed arrangement to avoid overloading any single upstream PDU, and confirming that the single output cord aligns with your downstream power path. After installation, monitor load distribution to prevent thermal or electrical hotspots and ensure all safety and grounding requirements are met.

Q: Is the Lenovo 39Y8939 PDU suitable for all data centers?

A: It is particularly advantageous for environments that require scalable power distribution with simplified cabling and mixed-source PDU feeds. If your rack houses high-density equipment and you anticipate growth, this front-end PDU can help manage current more efficiently while keeping a clean, organized power layout.

Really good pillows
Number of Items: 1, Number of Items: 1
I’ve been using this pillow for a while now and it’s honestly one of the most comfortable pillows I’ve tried. It has a soft, cloud-like feel but still gives enough support for my neck and shoulders. I’m a side sleeper and it keeps its shape well through the night. The material feels high quality, and it doesn’t go flat like cheaper pillows. Definitely improved my sleep quality and worth the purchase.

Soft AND supportive
Number of Items: 1
I knew I needed a very soft pillow - all the foam pillows I had bought recently to try to upgrade our home pilllow selection seemed ok to the touch but were still too firm once I tried them out, but recently I also had some neck pain that needed some gentle support and the old old foam pillow I had that was so very soft was losing its supportive qualities and the pain wasn’t getting better. This one seemed by description to fit the bill- very soft by the company’s own definition but also with support. I’m happy to report this is exactly as advertised- the softest foam pillow I’ve tried out of the box but also good support. Pain has improved since I started using this pillow. I would buy more if we need more pillows, it’s perfect for me and I think would be comfortable for most people. I think you just need to figure out how firm you need your pillow and also height preference . I’m an all over sleeper -back, side, even belly sometimes, so it’s fine for me, but it is a little taller compared to other pillows I’ve bought recently. I didn’t compare/try other prominent pillow brands, mostly my experience is Ikea (my daughter uses a very flat and nice foam pillow from them that is even a little pricier than this one and it works well for her), and whatever brands happen to be available at target and Costco. This price point for a name brand is reasonable, I think; I was looking at other brands way over $100, and I was willing to spend that much for something that would work long term, so this one working was great. Also, this definitely does not have any cooling effect technology, which is fine by me, but something to consider if you do like cool pillows. (Although, PSA: I recently had to throw away older foam pillows that had those cooling gel panels because the gel panels started disintegrating into sticky ooze; gross and had to throw away whole pillow because couldn’t dissociate from rest of the pillow. Sad cuz the foam part of those pillows were fine.) Anyway, if you like softer pillows but want good support, this one works well and is worth trying!!

Flatter than a regular pillow but nice and soft
Number of Items: 1
Is it softer than a typical memory foam pillow? Yes. But it’s also a lot flatter. I don’t find this pillow rebounds very well. It’s good for stomach sleepers but not so much for side sleepers. I’m a 2/3 of the night side sleeper so it’s unfortunately not my magic pillow.

Best pillow for my neck pain.
Number of Items: 1
I've tried so so many pillows to relieve my neck pain at night and this one is the first pillow that has actually worked. I was skeptical at first as this pillow is heavy and dense but one night and I was hooked. I couldn't believe I found a pillow that actually not only was comfortable but also relieved my neck strain. It's worth the cost to now be able to wake up without pain.

Tempur-Cloud Pillow
Number of Items: 1
My daughter has been struggling to find a good pillow that does not hurt her ears. She is a tummy sleeper, as am I. I have also been struggling to find the perfect pillow. I heard about Tempur pillows and thought it a good idea to buy my daughter a pillow for her birthday. It arrived last night. She tried it out during the night. When she woke up this morning, the first thing she said was that the pillow is amazing. It was a good night for her. She said it felt like sleeping on a marshmallow - soft enough to not hurt her ears but firm enough to support her neck. The pillow is very comfortable. 😊
