About Ihoshiro Kiln

Ihoshiro Kiln is a small ceramics studio in Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture. They create creative and charming chopstick rests with a focus on “feelings and hands,” believing that the care of the maker can be felt in every piece.

The name “Ihoshiro” (五百代窯) comes from the historic name of the area and carries a wish for the kiln to continue for many years. From the beginning, their goal has been “to create pottery that makes the heart flutter.”

Each piece is carefully made by hand, one by one. Because ceramic production uses a lot of energy, the kiln has also installed solar power to support more sustainable craftsmanship.

Care

Handwash gently and dry thoroughly after use.

***The surface of the pottery may show fine crack-like lines called “kannyu” (crazing), which is a natural characteristic of ceramics. Some pieces may not show this pattern at first, but it can slowly appear over time, and the lines may become more visible.

Please understand that this is a natural feature of the glaze and not a defect.
