Over the years I tried to recreate that mixed tape in a digital playlist, but always got stumped by one track, which had no lyrics to google, and which even thwarted Shazaam, which surprised me (I'm a big Shazaam fan). I suspected it was 808 State, but the only word in the song was the title, "Memphis". But I could find no trace of an 808 State called 'Memphis'. Eventually Shazaam came through for me, after I ran 4 different segments of the song through it earlier this year - and that's how I finally learnt that the one word in the song was not in fact 'Memphis', but actually 'Nimbus'! It turns out to be a double-A side single to 'Timebomb', and it's awesome.

I looked a long time for a sci-fi themed vintage retro pulp paperback with a sun halo, but found nothing; then I thought that Christian hagiography would give me something, and then this terrific image reminded me that all Christian hagiography is borrowed from older faiths, and I love the juxtaposition of ancient Japanese culture with early 90s Manchester techo. FUN. I eschewed the retro feel here and went with a purely modern, non-distressed look and feel.
