Story

The Microjimbo is the latest designed from acclaimed designer, knife guru, US Army veteran, martial artist, and Spyderco's primary technical writer Michael Janich. Like many other scaled down Spyderco models, the Microjimbo specifically designed to retain the operational muscle memory for those familiar with the Yojimbo 2.

On a more personal note, the Yojimbo 2 is one of my top 5 knife models out of the hundreds of designs I've experienced. In my opinion and usage, wharncliffe blades are best for non-food, indoor uses. Thus, it's no surprise that I carried wharncliffes almost exclusively in my time as a knife enthusiast and box obliterator. 

I've also had the chance to meet Mike Janich a few times in person and he is my favorite person in the knife industry today. He has an incredible depth of knowledge about the history, performance, and applications of knives and even writes all of Spyderco's product descriptions, catalogs, and newsletters. 

This 15V Microjimbo is definitely something I'm going to be adding to my hoard!

Materials

This elite edition of the Microjimbo is supercharged with CPM-15V blade steel. This incredible high speed tool steel is one of the highest wear resistance steels on the planet, boasting (as the name would suggest) a whopping 15% vanadium. The staggering amount of vanadium, alongside other elements such as tungsten, form an incredible volumes of highly wear-resistant carbides. This special steel is enhanced even further with a heat treatment that Spyderco developed alongside acclaimed custom knife maker Shawn Houston (AKA, Big Brown Bear). Shawn's heat treating expertise was put to full effect in this project, yielding a blade that performs at the very limits of what human technology can currently produce, yet has surprising sharpenability. Just make sure you are using a hard, diamond or CBN abrasive. 

Also note that with the closure of Crucible Industries, CPM 15V can no longer be produced. Other foundries lack the means and/or business justification to create such an extreme, niche steel, so be sure to pick up this highly collectible piece of steel history while you still can!

To further visually differentiate this sprint run series, the blades come with a stonewashed finish, BBB logo engraving, and distinctive brown peel-ply textured G10 scales.
