artist biography
Hjalmar Paul Book was born March 13, 1897 in Malmö. He was a Swedish artist.
Book studied art in Malmö, Dresden and Copenhagen. He was most active in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. He worked predominantly in oil but also created drawings in pastel or graphite. Book is best known for his Parisian street scenes, landscapes from the Scanian region in Sweden, and still life works.
He passed away at the age of 85 on March 8, 1983 in his hometown of Malmö.
