To give an INFORMED decision, I will share some news that came out recently about this product having PFAS (forever chemicals) from a third party platform. PFAS is a concern for sure! It's being found in many personal products but it can also be found in our water, soil, and air at this point. It's something that really needs work but it will not be an overnight solution. Here's the results + the response from the company: 

• EcoPeaCo Bamboo Diapers For sensitive skin Size NB — inside results 28 ppm organic fluorine, outside 12 ppm organic fluorine [updated product 4/29/24] (Mammavation) ❌

After reaching out to the company, they were very quick to respond and this was their response:

• " The test results contradict Mamavation. The results showed no PFAS on our wipes, training pants, and some of the diapers. Where PFAS was found, it was trace amounts significantly lower than the detection limits of the Mamavation testing. 
   
  We chose components that do not contain PFAS or other chemicals of concern. The post says that organic fluorine could be an indicator of PFAS but it's actually also found in other naturally occurring, non-harmful compounds therefore it isn’t explicitly PFAS. 
   
  We feel that they're as safe as anything on the market. Children's health is our top priority and we're confident in that and use them on our own kids."

Now for my opinion, I don't think it's possible to 100% remove PFAS but I do think companies can take many precautions to have them removed. It sounds to me, after speaking with this company, that they're doing their best and plan on continuing to improve more. Not only have PFAS been found in disposable diapers but they have also been found in cloth diapers too. Of course I'd love for this to not be a problem but I think it's important to not throw a whole company away when information comes out and I encourage you to reach out to the company yourself and make your own personal informed decision on what's right for your baby. -Destiny

Things to consider with diapers: 

• TCF (Totally Chlorine Free) vs ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free). You want TCF ✅ TCF doesn't use chlorine or chlorine derivatives. TCF diapers use oxygen, ozone, or peroxide-based bleaching systems which is safer than using chlorine because of the dioxins. "The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that continued exposure to dioxins can harm children's reproductive and immune systems, alter liver function, disrupt hormones, and even cause cancer. " I am okay with ECF if they have been tested for chlorine and chlorine byproducts or proof of no dioxins
• Avoid diapers that contain: phthalates, parabens, bisphenols, PFAS, flame retardants, acrylic acid, acrylamide, or tributyl-tin (TBT). Some dyes used in diapers may also be contaminated with toxic heavy metals.
• Fragrances are often used to mask odors in diapers, but they can contain phthalates, which are endocrine disruptors linked to negative health effects.
• Avoid TBT (Tributyl-tin): Prevents the growth of microorganisms but has been linked as an endocrine disrupter. 
• The topsheet is what's directly touching baby.
