Evoking a profound sense of calm due to the vast emptiness, the artwork portrays a moment of reflection and contemplation, it’s focal point inspired by a tree Rowan and his family came across while travelling through the highlands and affectionately named ‘our Rowan tree’. Capturing the unique beauty of the landscape and ever present essence of family, this unique artwork is a mesmerising tribute to the many incredible vista’s of nature and the changing views possible in just one spot with the passing of time and light.

With grey muted hues, ‘Journey Beyond II’ is a dark landscape, evoking a sense of grandiosity and calm, highlighted by its reflection in the water.

A pioneer of reverse painting on glass Richard Rowan has created an atmospheric scene that allows us to escape from everyday life and take notice of the changing possibilities of nature. The sky takes full stage, framing the detailed silhouette of the tree with an incredible gradience of colour and depth.

“I love the process of creating these unique artworks and creating new tones and palettes within my work, there are endless inspirations in nature and that’s really what I’d love these Unique collections to capture.”

While working on this collection of unique artworks, Rowan listened to Tony Anderson's album "The Heart Of Man” which profoundly influenced the ambiance of the pieces.

Produced in high-quality giclée on glass, Rowans silhouetted foreground has been reverse printed in layers onto glass perfectly reflecting the incredible techniques used in his original artwork and returned to his London studio. There Rowan has meticulously hand-painted each vista using his reverse painted layering technique, often involving several coatings of paint to be applied, taken away and built in complex blended layers to create a completely unique image with incredible depth and photorealism.
