Extreme Networks SFP (mini-GBIC) Module

Discover the versatility and reliability of the Extreme Networks SFP (mini-GBIC) Module, a dual‑speed fiber transceiver designed to empower enterprise and industrial networks with flexible, long‑reach connectivity. This compact, plug‑in module supports both 100BASE-LX and 1000BASE-LX operation over single‑mode fiber (SMF), delivering up to 10 kilometers of dependable link distance. Whether you’re upgrading an existing network, building a new backbone, or deploying rugged environments, this SFP module provides a seamless, hot‑swappable solution that integrates smoothly with Extreme Networks equipment as well as other SFP‑compatible devices adhering to the industry SFP MSA standards.

  • Dual‑speed operation for flexible deployments: 100 Mbps (100BASE‑LX) and 1 Gbps (1000BASE‑LX) over SMF, enabling cost‑effective upgrades and scalable bandwidth while preserving existing fiber infrastructure.
  • Long‑reach single‑mode fiber support: up to 10 kilometers of link distance, ideal for campus backbones, data center interconnects, and remote site connections without multiple hops or repeaters.
  • Industrial‑grade design for challenging environments: ruggedized form factor and components built to endure demanding conditions, delivering reliable performance in embedded networks, manufacturing floors, and edge deployments.
  • Compact, hot‑swappable plug‑in form factor: SFP (mini‑GBIC) module that installs quickly into standard SFP ports, minimizes downtime, and simplifies inventory management across mixed vendor networks.
  • Broad compatibility with standard optical interfaces: conforms to the multi‑source SFP/Mini‑GBIC ecosystem, ensuring straightforward integration with Extreme Networks gear as well as other SFP‑compliant switches and routers.

Technical Details of Extreme Networks SFP (mini-GBIC) Module

  • Form factor: SFP (mini‑GBIC) transceiver
  • Data rates: 100 Mbps (100BASE‑LX) and 1 Gbps (1000BASE‑LX)
  • Fiber type: Single‑mode fiber (SMF)
  • Wavelength: 1310 nm typically used for LX laser interfaces
  • Distance: Up to 10 kilometers on SMF links
  • Connector type: LC duplex optical connector
  • Operating environment: Industrial‑grade options available for rugged deployments
  • Power and thermal: Designed for efficiency and stable performance under typical data center and field conditions
  • Compatibility: SFP/Mini‑GBIC standard interface designed for seamless integration with Extreme Networks and other SFP‑compliant devices

How to install Extreme Networks SFP (mini-GBIC) Module

  • Power down the device only if required by your maintenance policy, or confirm hot‑swap capability for your chassis and switch model—many Extreme Networks devices support hot‑swapping of SFP modules.
  • Remove the protective dust cap from the SFP port and inspect the slot for any debris to ensure a clean connection.
  • Align the SFP module with the slot, ensuring the edge connectors are properly oriented, then insert firmly until it seats with a gentle click.
  • Connect the fiber cable to the LC duplex connector, taking care to align transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) pins correctly and to secure ferrules to prevent micro‑bends.
  • Power up (if necessary) and verify link status via the network switch or router management interface. Confirm that the interface negotiates at 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps as expected, and test data transmission to verify link integrity.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What speeds does the Extreme Networks SFP (mini-GBIC) Module support?
    A: It supports dual‑speed operation: 100 Mbps (100BASE‑LX) and 1 Gbps (1000BASE‑LX) over single‑mode fiber.
  • Q: What type of fiber and distance can I use?
A: It uses single‑mode fiber (SMF) with a reach up to 10 kilometers, depending on fiber quality and optical budget.
  • Q: Is this module compatible with non‑Extreme devices?
A: Yes. The SFP form factor follows the industry SFP/Mini‑GBIC standards, so it should work with other SFP‑enabled switches and routers that accept LX‑class transceivers, provided the device supports compatible wavelengths and fiber type.
  • Q: Can I replace the module without powering down the chassis?
A: Many Extreme Networks devices support hot‑swap of SFP modules. Always follow your device’s maintenance guidelines and ensure proper safety procedures when replacing components in live environments.
  • Q: What maintenance or care is required for the SFP module?
A: Keep the LC connectors clean, avoid excessive bending of fiber cables, and store unused modules with protective caps on to prevent dust ingress and electrostatic damage.

These hold up very well
Color: White, Size: Standard (Pack of 2)
I have NO luck with pillows. I’ve been in stores & tried them. They seemed ok there. At home, nope. I’ve been getting headaches & neck aches from lousy pillows. I’ll change one, a few nights relief. It doesn’t help that I’m prone to headaches. After reading about different pillows, I settled on these. The reviews were better than so many different ones I was looking at. Including high priced & brand names. I bought the standard size. When I saw, “Customers Usually Keep This”, I kept my fingers crossed. When I received them, I took one out of the package & put my head on it & thought, oh no! This is too hard! I tried it again. Ok….. I slept on it & haven’t had any pains since. It’s soft but firm enough to keep my head from sinking & messing up my neck. I don’t move. No more flipping my pillow over. My head doesn’t go below my neck anymore! This has been 2 months now, but it hasn’t changed at all. I wake up happy, not complaining. No more pains or headaches. This saved me from losing days with a heating pad or an ice pack. The price was excellent for 2 pillows. I can’t believe a blind buy was the answer! These are incredible. Finally, something worked for me.

Awesome Pillows!
Color: White, Size: King (Pack of 2)
These pillows are super soft! I love them. I bought them when I caught a bad cold and needed to prop myself up. Worked so great! Definitely give these pillows a try. They're very reasonably priced too.

Very comfy pillow. Holds up better than the last 7 I bought which went flat after a week. It also comes with extra fill which I have not had to use yet but overall very happy!

Cozy & Comfortable
Fill Material: Down Alternative, Size: Queen/Standard Size
This pillow was a big surprise! Despite the size, it is so soft & comfortable. Being able to add & subtracting filling is wonderful. It's like having a custom pillow just for me. I am a stomach sleeper. I am able to cuddle the pillow & be very comfortable. Plus it recovers it's shape.

Overall a great pillow
Fill Material: Down Alternative, Size: King Size, Fill Material: Down Alternative, Size: King Size
I slept on it last night and I do think I’ll like it. I was used to a memory foam pillow, son this will be a change. My reason for 4 stars is because the zipper barely opens and my husband and I tried everything short of ruining the pillow. In the end I had to stuff extra stuffing into a pretty small hole. Nothing seems wrong with the zipper but I saw another review said they couldn’t add more filling. If they fix that issue then I’d rate it 5. Yes it is soft but it doesn’t go flat and if you adjust and add some more under your head it doesn’t shift. I do recommend if you like a plush pillow.
