>If you’re a fan of skiing history, you’re probably at least somewhat familiar with Snowbasin. Opened in 1939, it’s one of the longest continuously operating resorts in the United States, and it’s played host to a whole flock of important moments, including the 2002 Winter Olympics. Visitors to Snowbasin today will still find vestiges of those Olympic Games scattered around the resort, but what they’ll really notice is the quantity and quality of skiing. Snowbasin is a big resort (3,000 acres) with a lot of vert (almost 3,000 vertical feet of skiing.) And they put that size to good use with 11 lifts, including a tram and two gondolas to ferry skiers around the mountain. But Snowbasin isn’t just big and brash, they also get the little details right. Skiers who have visited will remember the luxurious bathroom stalls in the base area, a design element that Snowbasin shares with Sun Valley since Sun Valley’s owner acquired Snowbasin in 1984.
