Introducing the Clarineo 2.0

Revolutionising the beginner woodwind market, Nuvo have created a fleet of instruments perfect for beginners in every way. Made from a combination of durable plastic and silicone, each instrument is ultra-lightweight and couldn't be easier to clean - simply rinse or bathe with soapy water, dry thoroughly and they're good to go!

The Nuvo Clarineo is a clarinet in the key of C and is perfect for beginners of all ages. As the instrument is much lighter and smaller than a Bb clarinet, finger stretches are shorter, and the tone holes are smaller. This all bodes well for players with smaller hands, will reduce fatigue and encourage more practice.

The Clarineo has a rich and mellow tone and a 3.5 octave range - that's enough to play Mozart's Clarinet Concerto! And, although it is in the key of C which allows the player to join in with an ensemble of any other Nuvo or C instrument, the fingering is the same as a standard Bb clarinet, so the transition is quick and easy once the student is ready.

Integrated mouthpiece

Now comes fitted with new integral ligature, easy to open with one hand. It remains compatible with Nuvo’s plastic reeds in 1, 1.5 and 2 strength or cane Eb size clarinet reeds and now also soprano saxophone reeds.

Silicone bell

Replacing the original bayonet fitting bell, Nuvo now have a silicone bell similar to the “Straighten your jSax” bell for additional durability

Easy to clean

Nuvo instruments are easy to clean and sanitise. For a quick clean, simply spray with an appropriate woodwind disinfectant, leave for a 20 seconds or more then wipe with a dry cloth. When your instrument needs a deeper clean you can bathe it in warm soapy water and leave to dry on a towel. This will remove a build up of dirt or grime in any part of the instrument and get rid of any unwanted bacteria without the need to take it apart or for expensive cleaning equipment.

Built to last

Made from durable plastic and silicone, Nuvo instruments are built to last. Nuvo actively encourages players to pass on their instrument to another beginner once they have moved on to their next instrument, so if looked after well, your instrument could last you through many new players! Maintenance is also simple, with readily available spare parts and simple instructions for fitting and repair.

Durable keywork & self leveling pads

The new silicone pads create improved reliability and even seating. Also, unlike the silver keycaps on the original model, this generation model features silicone keycaps for extra comfort and grip - they are even coloured to match the trim of your instrument.

Perfect in the classroom

As the Clarineo is in the key of C, it allows it to be played with other C instruments, such the rest of the Nuvo range. Along with traditional repertoire, there are a lot of learning materials available on the Windstars website. You will also find ensemble pieces for combinations of Nuvo instruments including the jFlute, jSax, Dood and Toot. This is perfect for a small class ensemble - you can even make your own Nuvo orchestra!

Case & accessories

The new sleek case is fastened with two sturdy press studs as well as a patch of hook and loop fabric to keep your instrument secure whilst also making it quick and easy to get out ready to play in no time. It is also also reduced in size to make it much more child friendly. In the case, as well as your Clarineo, you are provided with O-ring grease, a cleaning swab, and fingering chart. The Clarineo also comes with 2 durable synthetic reeds and 1 cane reed, although it can be paired with any Eb clarinet reed of your choosing.

The idea of a Windstar instrument is to give children a feel for what it would be like to play the real thing. The simpler version allows for skills to develop introducing a class or individual to what playing a wind instrument feels like for them.

A sustainable and effective option for your music department

Plastic instruments are a sustainable choice for the classroom.

Manufacturing carbon footprint - Extracting oil to make ABS resin consumes less energy than mining nickel, zinc and copper, which are used to make traditional flutes and clarinets.

Durability and lifespan – Whilst metal instruments often become bent out of shape or dented, ABS keys are tough and relatively elastic which means they can flex but will return accurately to original shape. Nuvo instruments can last a lifetime with affordable spares that are easy to replace yourself, greatly reducing maintenance costs.

Cleaning and hygiene – Plastic instruments are easy to keep clean by fully immersing in hot soapy water, from time to time. In contrast, traditional metal instruments require more careful maintenance. For example, a metal flute must be cleaned and thoroughly dried after each use to prevent moisture buildup, which can lead to corrosion and tarnishing.
