- Based on the legendary Fairchild 670 compressor and Heritage Audio's HERCHILD 670 model, the GRANDCHILD 670 puts the proven performance of the HERCHILD Model 670 in a cost-effective, two-space 500 series module.
- The module features an attractive front panel complete with a large, informative VU meter that not only provides Gain Reduction metering, but also shows the unit’s 3-position Active/Bypass/Off switch from a distance.
- In common with its big brother, there is an Input Gain control with an adjustable range of 20 dB, the AC Threshold, and 5 selectable Attack/Release times. In addition, the DC Threshold control provides a unique compression curve adjustment combining control of the ratio and knee, soft stepped from hard limiting to a very smooth and transparent, light compression.
- Use the 3-position high-pass Sidechain filter to reduce the lower frequency´s influence on the detection circuit, a must-have feature for contemporary productions.
- The stereo GRANDCHILD 670 uses the sum of the two channels to determine the overall amount of gain reduction for both channels, ensuring a stable stereo image.
- Vacuum tubes in the gain-reduction circuit is at the heart of the specific tonality provided by variable-mu compression.
- Four 6BA6 (5749) tubes and three transformers ensure classic, top-tier analog performance for your mixing and mastering sessions.
