Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari was a master of the sacred sciences, and one of the most respected scholars of the Ahl al-Sunnah w'al Jama'at of his generation. However, although he served as Imam of al-Azhar for many years, he is perhaps better known in the West today as one of the the foremost Arabic poets of the past century.
