Narrative Significance
This work captured profound anguish turned into colourful wonder - how the deepest pains and sorrows can transform and dance into new forms. We only need to explore the power of breathing, release, and a bit of imagination. Rest of the spirit leads to new energy and time heals, even when we may look back and wonder how we survived.
During 2006, we were in major transition having come back to Australia after a major trip back home to Canada during 2005. It was a difficult year and filled with homesickness, which if you have ever known the condition, it can be debilitating. At the same time, new energy and projects were forming. We were very busy in a teaching role in therapy at university, and there were a lot of demands and stress. The painting was first created to express the movements of energy and overlapping stories and places of our lives.
During 2025, we touched up the painting and provided its final finishing coat. This moment was powerful - it shows how perseverance and patience embrace even the most difficult issues. There is always a new day coming. We never know what will be around the corner.
