The NEC Display MultiSync EA271Q-BK 27" Class WQHD LCD Monitor is a premium solution for professionals who demand razor-sharp detail, precise color, and dependable performance across diverse tasks. Designed with the needs of designers, engineers, content creators, and savvy gamers in mind, this monitor combines NEC’s trusted MultiSync heritage with a modern 27-inch panel that delivers vibrant visuals at a native WQHD resolution. With its sleek black chassis, slim bezels, and a focus on color accuracy and ergonomic comfort, the EA271Q-BK is built to be a reliable centerpiece for creative suites, analytical workflows, and immersive entertainment alike. Whether you’re editing photos, reviewing CAD renders, crunching data, or streaming your favorite titles, this display provides a generous canvas and consistent performance that helps you work faster and with more confidence.

  • Stunning WQHD resolution for sharp, detailed visuals: The EA271Q-BK delivers a true 27-inch class WQHD display with a native 2560x1440 resolution. This results in crisper text, finer line work, and ample desktop real estate, allowing you to view more content side-by-side without sacrificing clarity. The higher pixel density translates to smoother gradients and richer textures, making it ideal for photo editing, graphic design, and data visualization where precision matters. Whether you’re zooming in on fine details or managing multi-window layouts, you’ll appreciate how this monitor reveals subtle nuances in images and documents more accurately than a standard Full HD display.
  • PLS panel technology for wide viewing angles and consistent color: The built-in PLS (Plane-to-Line Switching) panel delivers broad viewing angles and stable brightness, so color remains consistent from multiple perspectives. This wide-angle performance is especially valuable when collaborating with teammates, presenting to clients, or working on projects that require accurate color perception from off-center positions. The PLS technology helps minimize color shift at oblique viewing angles, which means what you see on screen stays dependable whether you’re working at your desk, standing to review a mockup, or sharing the display with colleagues during reviews or design sessions.
  • Color accuracy backed by professional calibrations and robust imaging features: The EA271Q-BK is engineered with color fidelity in mind, offering strong grayscale performance and reliable color reproduction for a range of professional applications. With factory-calibrated presets and calibration-friendly workflows, you can quickly align the display to your workflow, ensuring consistent results across projects. The monitor’s rich color capability supports creative tasks, medical imaging previews, architectural visuals, and financial dashboards alike, letting you trust the output when you communicate ideas, proof content, or submit final work to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ergonomic, flexible design for all-day comfort: Comfort is a cornerstone of the EA271Q-BK’s design. The display provides ergonomic versatility, including adjustable tilt, swivel, and height positioning, so you can tailor the screen angle and distance to your preferred posture. A stable stand or VESA-mount compatibility gives you the option to install the monitor in a multi-display setup or on a dedicated arm for maximum desk space and workflow efficiency. This ergonomic flexibility helps reduce eye strain during long sessions and keeps you productive, whether you’re coding, drafting, or analyzing complex spreadsheets.
  • Flexible connectivity and energy-conscious operation: The EA271Q-BK is equipped with a range of modern inputs to accommodate diverse devices and setups, including HDMI and DisplayPort for high-bandwidth video and audio transmission. The monitor is designed with energy efficiency in mind, delivering reliable performance while minimizing power consumption during idle periods. This combination of flexible connectivity and responsible power usage makes it a practical choice for busy workstations, home offices, or professional studios where efficiency and reliability matter as much as image quality.

How to Install NEC Display MultiSync EA271Q-BK

Setting up the EA271Q-BK is straightforward and designed to get you from box to productive in minutes. Begin by choosing a stable, clutter-free workspace with enough room to position the monitor at a comfortable viewing distance. If you plan to use a single-monitor setup, you can place the EA271Q-BK directly on its stand; for multi-monitor arrays or overhead mounting, use the VESA 100x100 mounting pattern to attach the monitor to a compatible arm or wall mount. Once mounted, connect your devices with the recommended video cable option—DisplayPort for optimal performance, or HDMI if your system lacks a DisplayPort output. Power up the monitor and connect it to a PC, laptop, or workstation to complete the initial setup.

Next, turn on the computer and access your operating system display settings. Set the resolution to the monitor’s native WQHD 2560x1440 to ensure the best image clarity and sharpness. In color-critical workflows, you may wish to engage the monitor’s color presets or run a calibration tool to align gamma, white point, and luminance with your workflow standards. Use the adjustable stand to align the screen at eye level and ensure your neck remains in a natural, relaxed position. If you require a landscape or portrait orientation, the EA271Q-BK’s design accommodates easy pivoting and orientation changes through the stand and mounting solution.

For extended sessions, consider enabling any available eye-care features such as flicker-free operation or blue-light reduction to lessen eye fatigue. If your work involves multi-monitor setups, arrange the EA271Q-BK in a visually seamless array, taking advantage of the slim bezels to minimize gaps and create a cohesive workspace. Finally, perform a quick brightness and color check by opening a reference image or a test pattern to verify uniform illumination and color accuracy across the panel. With proper calibration and ergonomic positioning, you’ll maximize the monitor’s potential for professional color work, content creation, and data-intensive tasks.

A Dyadic Review: Baffling, Brilliant
Difficult. Rewarding. Serious. Hilarious. Wise. Faux-wise. Scholarly. Mock-scholarly. Observant. Absurdly, obsessively observant. Sharp characterizations. Ridiculous characters. Devout. Bawdy. Endearing. Frustrating. Genius. Barking mad. Narratively incoherent. Stream-of-consciousness associative. Consistently provincial. Profoundly universal. Mired in the 18th century. Harbinger of 20th century literary Modernism. Baffling. Brilliant Not for every taste. For my taste. And while I'm at it, let me give a shout-out for the out-of-print Norton critical edition, which provides many helps, essay avenues of understanding, and a clever chapter summary/table of contents. For so many years - since reading Moby Dick in grad school with the help of a Norton critical - this publication line has been my go-to for great texts: useful annotations, contemporary reviews, later scholarly articles, and more. And also let me give a shout-out to Anton Lesser, who narrated the complete novel for Naxos. I have never, ever experienced an audiobook as masterfully produced and narrated as Naxos' Tristram Shandy. No, it is simply not a book one can listen to and fully comprehend as heard. But one might read while listening, or listen while reading, with - if you have the riight software - the narration sped up closer to one's own reading speed, and experience the full majesty of Lesser's absolute preparation, with Latin, Greek, French, and German - as well as regional English - beautifully and humorously intoned, character voices carefully differentiated, tone and mood captured, etc. Or, as I do, go for a walk and listen as you walk, and afterward slip into a comfy chair, crack the novel open, and continue from where you left off, or backtrack if necessary to sort out the characters. In any event, and particularly for devotees of audio books, do find Anton Lesser's note-perfect reading, a veritable radio serial, perhaps the last book you'd expect anyone to attempt single-handedly, with My Father, My Uncle Toby, Corporal Trim, Parson Yorick, Doctor Slop, Widow Wadman, and all the rest of the supporting characters beautifully, consistently interpreted. Lesser is, in a galaxy of fine narrators, the greatest I've heard: an absolutely peerless voice actor in a most demanding work.

Brilliant stream of consciousness style, *extremely* humorous
"The Life and Opinions..." is perhaps impossible to really classify. It purports to be a biography of the fictional Tristram Shandy, but I don't think you can call something a biography when it only covers a year or so of the subject's life! I would say that more than half of the novel actually falls into the "Opinions" referred to in the title. The rest consists of short stories on Tristram's father, uncle, and a couple other minor characters. I have never in my life read so many digressions from the topic at hand, most of which were utterly irrelevant but the charm of it is that Sterne *knows* they're irrelevant, but mockingly expresses his license of authorship in forcing the reader to go off on these sidetracks. His attitude is: "If you can't wait a chapter or two to get back to the story, well, go take a flying leap, I'm the author." Sometimes the digressions are exasperating. Very unlike Victor Hugo's signature habit of digressing, say when a certain main character in Notre Dame decides to enter the Paris sewers, Hugo takes thirty or more pages to give a history of the design and construction of the Paris sewer system. At least Hugo's digressions have *something* to do with the story. Well, maybe that's the problem. There isn't a main story in this novel. It's not a storybook. There are many short stories nested within the main framework, but there is no real protagonist or overarching theme of any sort. Indeed, the end comes abruptly and there is absolutely no resolution of any conflict. It's not trying to teach anything, really. So what is it? I'm not sure. More a comedy than anything else. Right up there with Dickens' "Pickwick Papers" in terms of humor, but lacking the story. Maybe funnier than Dickens and just as clever. I was rolling in the aisles so many times I lost count. I read the Penguin edition, edited by Melvyn & Joan New. The back cover does a better job than I could ever do in providing a sense of what you're getting into when you pick this one up: "No one description will fit this strange, eccentric, endlessly complex masterpiece. It is a fiction about fiction-writing in which the invented world is as much infused with wit and genius as the theme of inventing it. It is a joyful celebration of the infinite possibilities of the art of fiction, and a wry demonstration of its limitations." It's a large work, it will take a while to work through. It's worth it. There are passages I want to go back to and make copies of to tape to the walls, they're that brilliant.

Interesting read, but takes some getting used to
I heard about this book on a blog, and figured I'd check it out. It's the rambling tale of a man determined to give you every last detail of everything that might be important to the narrative of his life. Unfortunately, he goes on tangets so often that he doesn't even get to his birth for several chapters, let alone the story of the rest of his life. Along the way, you're introduced to lots of random characters who are (at best) loosely related to the protagonist, but as often as not these tangents are fairly amusing. The writing is pretty dense, and this along with the tangents had me putting the book down fairly often. It's probably ideal for a commuting book, but I never wanted to just sit down and blitz through big chunks of it. Overall it's a very different kind of experience than a novel reader typically gets. It's worth a read for a change of pace, but I can't say it's a life-altering read.
