Meet the Skid Steer Vortex Stump Grinder
The Vortex Stump Grinder is engineered to maximize hydraulic efficiency and minimize maintenance. At its core is a high-torque radial piston motor paired with an integrated direct drive system that converts nearly 95% of hydraulic energy into usable horsepower. The oil bath–enclosed hub eliminates external couplers and constant greasing, reducing downtime and long-term maintenance costs.
Its asymmetrical, high-strength alloy steel grinding wheel improves operator visibility while evenly distributing cutting forces across 12 replaceable teeth, rock guards, and abrasion-resistant wear plates. This balanced design reduces tooth wear and extends component life, even in hard wood and compacted conditions.
Constructed entirely from A572 Grade 50 high-strength steel, the Vortex is built to withstand severe operating environments. The grinder is capable of cutting up to 18 inches below ground on the 27" configuration and 20 inches below ground on the 31" configuration, making it ideal for full stump removal. An elongated rubber chip guard absorbs debris impact and helps control chip buildup, keeping the work area cleaner and safer.
