StarTech.com 10G Network Card - NBASE-T - RJ45 Port - Intel X550 chipset - Ethernet Card - Network Adapter - Intel NIC Card

The StarTech.com 10G Network Card delivers premium, high-performance networking for demanding workloads on servers and workstations. Built around the renowned Intel X550 chipset, this NBASE-T NIC enables ultra-fast data transfer over an RJ45 port, unlocking true 10 Gigabit Ethernet capabilities while maintaining broad compatibility with 2.5G and 5G Ethernet environments. Whether you’re consolidating virtual machines, accelerating large data migrations, or providing low-latency connectivity for latency-sensitive applications, this single-port PCIe NIC is engineered to elevate your network infrastructure with reliability and versatility.

  • Unmatched 10G performance over familiar RJ45 — The NBASE-T RJ45 port on this NIC delivers up to 10Gbps throughput where you need it most, while retaining backward compatibility with 2.5G and 5G networks. This flexibility makes it ideal for upgrading existing cabling and switches that already rely on copper Ethernet, eliminating the need for a complete switch upgrade and reducing total cost of ownership. Expect dramatically improved file transfers, backups, virtualization traffic, and real-time data replication compared to traditional 1GbE adapters, with lower latency and smoother multi-client performance across virtual machines and containers.
  • Intel X550 chipset for performance and efficiency — At the heart of this card lies the Intel Ethernet Controller X550 family, known for robust offloads, advanced buffering, and reliable performance under heavy loads. The hardware offloads help free up CPU cycles for application processing, enabling more virtual NICs, higher VM density, and better multi-user throughput. In addition, features such as checksum offloads, large send offloads, and multicast filtering contribute to efficient data handling, especially in dense virtualization environments, database replication, and media streaming workloads.
  • PCIe 3.0 x4 interface with NBASE-T versatility — This StarTech NIC is designed for PCI Express 3.0 x4 slots, delivering a high-bandwidth path from your motherboard to the network. The NBASE-T capability provides automatic negotiation among 2.5G, 5G, and 10G speeds, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of switches and switches’ configurations. This makes it an excellent choice for data centers, enterprise workstations, and GPU-accelerated compute nodes that demand fast, reliable uplink/downlink connectivity without sacrificing backward compatibility with existing copper networks.
  • Easy deployment for servers and workstations with broad OS support — StarTech’s NIC is designed for straightforward installation into PCIe slots, followed by driver installation from StarTech’s repository to ensure optimal performance. The Intel X550-based NICs are widely supported across Windows and Linux ecosystems, and StarTech typically provides comprehensive driver and firmware updates to maintain compatibility and stability in production environments. With this card, IT teams can achieve rapid provisioning, simplified driver management, and consistent performance across a range of hardware configurations, from rack servers to high-end workstations used for data-intensive tasks.

How to install StarTech.com 10G Network Card

  • Power down and unplug your system to prevent any electrical damage. Disconnect all cables and peripherals, and ground yourself to avoid static discharge.
  • Open the case and locate a suitable PCIe slot on the motherboard. Ensure the slot is x4 or wider to accommodate the card’s PCIe interface and provide adequate bandwidth for 10G performance.
  • Insert the NIC firmly into the PCIe slot, aligning the connector with the slot and pressing gently until it seats fully. Secure the card with the chassis screw or retention mechanism as required by your enclosure.
  • Route and connect network cabling — Attach your RJ45 Ethernet cable to the card’s 10GBASE-T port and route it to the appropriate switch or router. For best results, use high-quality CAT6a or CAT7 copper cabling to maximize 10G stability over copper.
  • Install drivers and configure the NIC — Power up the system and install the latest drivers from StarTech’s official support page or your OS vendor’s driver repository. After installation, verify link status, configure VLANs, MTU, and any required offloads or virtualization settings. Test throughput with a suitable benchmarking tool and adjust settings to match your workload.
  • Verify operation and performance — Confirm that the NIC is recognized by the OS, the link is up, and traffic flows as expected. Test with real workloads such as VM migrations, database replication, or backup streams to ensure the NIC meets your performance goals.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is NBASE-T? NBASE-T refers to Ethernet speeds that negotiate across 2.5G, 5G, and 10G, enabling faster network performance over existing copper cabling. This NIC auto-negotiates to the highest supported speed with compatible switches, delivering scalable bandwidth without requiring a complete cabling overhaul.
  • Which environments work best with this card? It is well-suited for data-intensive servers, virtualization hosts, and high-performance workstations. Ideal use cases include VM migration, live storage replication, database backups, multimedia streaming, and HPC workloads where consistent, low-latency 10G connectivity improves overall system responsiveness.
  • Does the Intel X550 NIC support virtualization features? Yes. Intel X550-based adapters typically offer hardware-assisted offloads and features that improve virtualization performance, such as effective packet handling, segmented offloads, and support for various QoS and VLAN configurations. This helps consolidate multiple virtual NICs with minimal CPU overhead.
  • What kind of cables and switches are required? A high-quality copper Ethernet cable (recommended CAT6a or CAT7 for 10G stability) and a 10G-capable switch or router are needed to realize full 10G performance. If you’re connecting to a 2.5G or 5G network, the NBASE-T capability will negotiate to the appropriate speed automatically.
  • Is driver support available for Windows and Linux? Yes. StarTech provides driver packages and firmware updates, and Intel-based NICs are widely supported across major Windows and Linux distributions. Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.

Fantastic writing and non-stop action
Format: Kindle
This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.

Fun read
Format: Kindle
I'm not really into mafia books but I love Roxy Collin's other series so I decided to give it a try. It had the same great romance, spice, swoon-worthy characters and exciting plot that are her signature. Arben was my favorite, although it was a bit sudden how quickly he changed from ignoring her to wanting to be pack. There were almost too many twists/layers of lies to keep track of but I'm looking forward to reading the other books. The only thing that detracted from the story for me was the need for a bit more proofreading. It was mentioned that Kelly is a female and male at different points, leading me to think she changed her mind at some point about the character's gender but didn't go back and edit it to align in all places. Like another reviewer pointed out, step siblings are different than half siblings. They are incorrectly referred to as step siblings because they (allegedly) share the same biological dad. There are a few other typos as well but those aren't a big deal.

Stepbrothers, Secrets, and Sizzling Heat
Format: Kindle
Twisted Lies by Roxy Collins is a wild ride through family secrets, amnesia, and a steamy stepbrother romance. When Kelly discovers her life is built on lies, she ends up tangled with three alpha stepbrothers and an assassin who once helped her through a heat. The tension? Off the charts! The heat is real, and the complications are messy in the best way. Full of twists, secrets, and fated mates? You'll be hooked from page one! Love omegaverse drama with a dash of taboo? This one's for you!

Good read
Format: Kindle
The book has some good twists and turns, but truthfully I was so confused on some things. It didn't have a good flow for me personally. Not sure if it's due to typos or using him/her wrongly, but I thought Kelly was both a guy and a girl. Actually I still don't know, and it made me incredibly frustrated. It would refer to Kelley as him or he, and then again in another part of the story as her she and sister. On to the next book, I hope there is some clarity and a smoother flow. This is a slow burn, and I just don't know how much I care for the Alphas yet. Idk if I recommend.
