This is a painting of a November sunrise over Washington’s Willapa Bay, as seen from Oysterville. I watched the sunrise with my young niece and nephews who surprised me by getting all bundled up and announcing they wanted to follow me through the woods and out to the bay in the pre-dawn cold.
This is a very unique painting! The foreground is painted on a separate wood panel that is mounted slightly in front of the "background" sky panel. An LED light strip is mounted between the two wood panels; turn the lights on a subtle neon-style glow will illuminate the horizon. These are super cool! Using the included remote, you can choose to have a steady light or to have the light fade between different colors.
This painting was a collaboration with my husband; he cut out the foreground panel, installed the lights, and mounted the foreground panel to the painting.
