About Preseli Bluestone

Preseli Bluestone aka Stonehenge Bluestone, is a beautiful blue-green and white spotted variety of Dolerite comprised of a number of minerals. These sacred stones are gathered from one of the two quarry sites, the Preseli Mountains also known as Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire Wales, of which 42 of the 80 Stonehenge pillars were mined, during the 3rd millennium BC some 5000 years ago. It is still unknown how these mysterious 3-4 ton Megalithic Bluestones were transported to Stonehenge in Whiltshire England, 180 miles away. These circular structures have been used as sanctuaries and for ceremonial purposes for centuries.
