Showers have been the source of many outbreaks of Legionnaires' disease. Showerhead Plus has proven effectiveness in Legionella bacteria control†, and should be used to clean shower heads every 3 months, or more frequently if your Legionella Risk Assessment advises so. 

†The European Legionella Disinfection Test Standard (1995) for Legionella Pneumophila Serogroup 1 (NTCC 11192) gave control at 30 second contact time for 1:3 dilution.

Showerhead Plus is a ready-to-use acid-based descaling and disinfecting solution that has proven effective in Legionella control. Hydro-X Store offers the full range of Showerhead Plus descale and disinfection products. We offer Showerhead Plus Liquid is available in 5L and 12.5L If your showerhead cannot be removed or dismantled, we recommend Showerhead Plus Gel.

How To Use Showerhead Plus Liquid

This is a ready-to-use product, with no further dilution required. It is an easy-to-use product that can be sprayed on the surface or the unit can be submersed in it  :

To remove heavy deposits: Use Showerhead Plus liquid neat – caution should be used when using neat on chrome fittings. Please test in a small area first. 

For routine and regular cleaning: Immerse in a solution of 1-part Showerhead Plus liquid to 3 parts water. 

For routine and regular cleaning of your shower head and hose:

1. Physically clean the head with a soft brush to remove loose deposits or soap scum
2. Use a sturdy plastic bucket. Immerse the shower heads and hoses in a solution of 1-part Showerhead Plus liquid to 3 parts water – enough to cover the shower heads and hoses.
3. Leave to soak for 2-15 minutes.
4. Any remaining loose scale can be removed by gentle rubbing.
5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
6. Examine fittings to confirm cleanliness

Please Note: Shower head Plus should not be mixed with any other products containing Soduim Hypochlorite

The Showerhead Plus Liquid contains a pH indicator. (See chart below). When the Showerhead Plus liquid solution turns from red to pale yellow when the solution is no longer effective and should be replaced.

Health And Safety

For the safe use of Showerhead Plus please wear the following protective clothing:

• Rubber gloves – the mild acid can cause damage to your skin
• Wear eye protection – to avoid any damage to your eyes
• Apron – to prevent any splashes or spills contacting clothing or skin

After using Shower head Plus, reassemble the shower and flush for at least 1 minute. This is to ensure any trace of the solution is removed before the shower is used again.

Handling

• Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing
• In case of contact, immediately remove contaminated clothing and wash skin with soap and water
• For eyes, flush with plenty of water and seek medical attention
• Harmful if swallowed
