The blade is highly polished Solingen C75 Carbon Steel, which is regarded as the highest quality knife steel in the world. Note: Carbon Steel is generally harder than stainless steel, this allows the blade to hold a sharper edge and for a longer time.  Carbon Steel, however, will corrode/rust if it's not cleaned and oiled regularly.
