The Tripp Lite by Eaton Specter II PS/2 Remote Unit is a purpose-built accessory designed to simplify and optimize the installation of Phantom KVM systems. Engineered for reliability in data centers and enterprise IT environments, this PS/2 remote unit acts as a bridge between your PS/2 servers and Phantom KVM switches, delivering a clean, organized, and high-performance workflow. With its rugged build, compact form factor, and compatibility with the Specter II family, this remote unit helps IT teams reduce cabling clutter, improve signal integrity, and accelerate deployment times while remaining compliant with trade and government procurement standards.

  • Streamlined Phantom KVM installation: The Specter II PS/2 Remote Unit simplifies the link between PS/2 servers and KVM switches, enabling rapid rack integration and a more efficient wiring layout. By consolidating connections in a dedicated remote unit, administrators can manage server access with less confusion, fewer connection points, and fewer opportunities for misrouting. This streamlined approach is especially valuable in environments with multiple PS/2 servers and complex KVM topologies, where every minute saved in setup translates to meaningful gains in uptime and productivity.
  • Enhanced signal integrity and reliability: Built to support dependable keyboard, video, and mouse signals across PS/2 connections, the Specter II Remote Unit emphasizes robust connectors, shielding, and stable signaling. This focus on signal integrity helps minimize latency, reduce interference, and preserve the quality of the console experience even in densely populated racks or longer cable runs. For IT teams managing mission-critical access, the result is more consistent performance and fewer troubleshooting steps tied to connection quality.
  • Flexible mounting and cable management: Designed with rack-friendly deployment in mind, this remote unit offers a compact footprint that fits neatly into data center cabinets or remote IT rooms. Its thoughtful design promotes clean cable management, making it easier to route PS/2 lines, power, and control cables without creating congestion around adjacent equipment. The end effect is a tidier rack with improved airflow and simplified serviceability during routine maintenance or hardware refresh cycles.
  • TAA-compliant, enterprise-grade hardware: The Tripp Lite Specter II PS/2 Remote Unit carries Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliance, making it suitable for government procurement and enterprise deployments that require strict sourcing standards. Beyond compliance, the device offers enterprise-grade build quality, dependable performance, and interoperability with Tripp Lite’s Specter II ecosystem, ensuring a scalable foundation for growing KVM deployments and future upgrades.
  • Seamless integration with Specter II ecosystem: As part of the Specter II line, this PS/2 Remote Unit is designed to integrate smoothly with existing Phantom KVM configurations. The cohesive ecosystem approach means consistent cabling practices, familiar management workflows, and straightforward expansion as your KVM matrix evolves. Whether you are deploying a handful of servers or a sprawling data center, this remote unit aligns with your long-term virtualization and access strategy.

How to install Tripp Lite by Eaton Specter II PS/2 Remote Unit

  • Plan your layout: Before mounting, map out the location of the remote unit in relation to your PS/2 servers and Phantom KVM switch. Consider cable pathways, ease of maintenance access, and airflow. A well-planned layout reduces tension on connectors and minimizes the risk of accidental disconnections during maintenance windows.
  • Power down and safe-guard: Power down the KVM switch and any connected servers before connecting or rearranging cables. This precaution helps prevent signal glitches, data hazards, or unexpected resets during installation. Ensure you have a stable power source and that proper anti-static precautions are observed.
  • Connect PS/2 signals: Attach the PS/2 data and clock lines from the PS/2 servers to the corresponding inputs on the remote unit, following the color-coded or labeled connectors. Verify each connection is snug and fully seated to maintain reliable keyboard and mouse signal transmission and to avoid intermittent connectivity issues at the console.
  • Link to Phantom KVM switch and console: Connect the remote unit to the Phantom KVM switch and the KVM console per the product’s wiring diagram. Route and secure cables to prevent strain at the connectors, which can disrupt signal integrity over time. Use appropriate retention hardware if your cabinet includes it to minimize movement during equipment maintenance or tilt/shake in the rack.
  • Power up and test: Restore power and verify that the KVM console can access all configured PS/2 servers through the Phantom KVM. Perform a quick series of tests for keyboard input, video display, and mouse movement across each connected server. Confirm that the remote unit remains stable under normal operation and that any firmware or controller alignment steps recommended by your KVM switch are completed.

AN Interesting Genre Blend
Format: Paperback
Well, this is a weird one (in a good way...I think). 47 heroes are selected, one for each of the demon kings. The heroes are sent out to destroy the demon kings and regain the world back for humanity. It's a bit bleak though...The 11th hero is in a rut, but a strange group with specialized weapons (firearms as opposed to swords) comes and obliterates a group of demons. Has the call been answered? While they may think that, the group has actually sought them for aid to fight against these AI robots that have taken over humanity. Can the two groups help each others worlds across dimensions? This manga offers an interesting genre blend of fantasy and futuristic technology. The art is great, as expected of the mangaka of One Punch Man, and some of the characters are certainly more intriguing than others. This is definitely a fun action-packed manga that fits the shounen genre.
