Background
LILRA3(Leukocyte Immunoglobulin Like Receptor A3, also known as LIR4, ILT6, or CD85e) is produced by monocytes and macrophages in the form of a soluble molecule. It is a highly glycosylated protein secreted. LILRA3 located in chromosome 19q 13.4, is the only LILR showing genetic diversity, with one or two LILRA3 allelic deletions of 6.7k bp. It is belongs to the LILR family of highly homologous activating and inhibitory cell surface receptors. LILRs includes activating (LILRA1, LILRA2, LILRA3) and inhibitory (LIRB1, LILRB2, LILRB3, LILRB4, LILRB5) isoforms. LILRA3 may bind the same or similar ligands which act as an antagonist or agonist to other members of LILRs. LILRA3 has potential significant functions in autoimmune diseases, such as Psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, Sjogren's syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis.
