Introducing the Black Box Multimode Test Set at 850 nm — a rugged, reliable tool designed for professionals who install, test, and maintain multimode fiber networks. Built to withstand challenging environments, this compact solution combines optical power loss testing with LAN cable verification, giving you a single, streamlined device for fiber and network diagnostics. With a machined aluminum construction, TAA compliance, and a single 9-volt alkaline battery powering both units, this test set delivers durable performance, simple operation, and dependable results in the field or on the bench.

  • Precise optical power loss testing for multimode fiber at 850 nm. Quickly quantify insertion loss and verify fiber integrity to ensure your networks meet design specifications and performance requirements.
  • LAN cable testing integrated with fiber diagnostics. Beyond fiber tests, validate copper-side connectivity to speed up fault finding and confirm end-to-end data path reliability.
  • Rugged, field-ready construction. Machined aluminum housing delivers durability in harsh environments, resisting impact, vibration, and temperature variations common on job sites.
  • Battery-powered simplicity. A single 9-volt battery powers both units, reducing weight, simplifying logistics, and extending operational life in the field (battery included, alkaline).
  • Compact, portable, and easy to use. Designed for quick setup and fast results, enabling technicians to perform essential tests without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency.

Technical Details of Black Box Multimode Test Set - 850 nm

how to install Black Box Multimode Test Set

Start with a simple, tool-friendly setup to begin testing quickly. Remove the device from its protective case, and ensure you have a fresh alkaline 9-volt battery installed in the power supply unit. Power on the test set and allow a brief warm-up if required by your model. Connect the fiber under test to the appropriate test ports, being careful to align connectors properly to prevent damage. When testing, select the optical power loss mode for the 850 nm wavelength and follow on-screen prompts to measure insertion loss across the fiber segment. If you’re also validating LAN cabling, connect the copper test path according to the user manual, and run the LAN cable test sequence to verify integrity and continuity. After completing tests, interpret the readings against your project’s loss budgets and documentation requirements. Store the device in its protective case, removing excess cable and ensuring the battery compartment is secured for next use.

Orange looking, but large capacity
Size: One Size, Color: Brown
I ended up returning this product, it looks more orange in color than what is pictured. Also, it doesn't smell like leather. On a positive note, it was inexpensive and did have a large organization capacity.

Best wallet on the market.
Size: One Size, Color: Nubuck Black, Size: One Size, Color: Nubuck Black
This is the only wallet I buy now. Over and over. I like simple wallets. No bifold. Trifolds hurt your back. Hard case are a mess that rub your credit card mag strips off from friction. I found this a few years back and have bought 3. I am a stone worker so mine get worn from the dust and grit in my pockets faster than normal wear and I need to swap them out every couple of years. I like the simplicity and the fact that the pockets are stitched the same depth so your cards stack like varying length stair-style tabs rather than all the same depth. Wallet is RDIF protection lined. I can put like 15 cards in this wallet and it’s still thinner than a bifold holding 5. I love it. I mean it. I haven’t found a better wallet than this one. They are very well-built. Picture shows wallet with 19 cards + 40 dollars. 3/4 of an inch thick.

So far happy.
Size: One Size, Color: Glossy Nappa Black
As everyone has made clear, it holds credit cards very tight. Almost 3 weeks in & mine seems to be breaking in a little, but cards are still a bit difficult to remove. No complaints with money clip. One thing I thought was a dumb move on manufacturers part, was inside one of the card slots is a tag sewn into the seem. This makes things alot worse while trying to fit cards into all slots. The tag will catch on the cards & bunch up in the corner of the slot making things even tighter in that slot, plus all slots surrounding it. I was able to get a scissors in there enough to cut most of the tag out, without cutting the stitching itself....it made a big difference....enough to fit an extra card in & without it bulging up the wallet overall. Why would they feel it necessary to do this is beyond my pay grade. Its not like you can even see what the tag says until you cut it out.... I believe it was the name & logo....but Jesus, how unnecessary, & in the dumbest place one could possibly think of. Especially when EVERYONE comments on how excessively tight it is to fit cards in the slots & also be able to retrieve them with relative ease when needed. Overall I am happy with this wallet so far.... I'll be interested to see if it holds together over the long haul or if the stitching gives out in a year & has to be replaced. I will update this review as time progresses. UPDATE: Its almost to March 27 2023 & its been holding up great. No ripping or tearing stitching holding strong. Still holds cards really tight, but they are easier to remove.
