artist biography
Märta-Lisa (Lizzie) Olsson Arle was born 23 February, 1926 in Ärtemark, Dalsland. She was a Swedish painter, sculptor and art educator.

Olsson studied at the Konstfack (National College of Art) in Stockholm 1944 to 1948, Académie André Lhote and the Académie de Grande Chaumiere in Paris from 1948 to 1951, and in Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti, Ravenna in 1951. She took a number of private study trips abroad including trips 1948 to Italy and France, 1949 to England and Holland, 1951 to Spain and Spanish Morocco, 1953 to Austria, Yugoslavia, Turkey and to Greece in 1957 and 1960. She worked as a teacher and as principal at Gerlesborgsskolan for most of her working life. Her husband was the Swedish sculptor and art professor Asmund Arle (1918-1990).

In 1952 she was awarded the newspaper Frihets scholarship, and in 1954 the Nordic Association's art scholarship. Select solo exhibitions include Sandviken in 1950 and 1958, Örebro in 1952, Bengtsfors in 1952 and 1958, Åmål in1955, Åsele and Stockholm (Lilla galleriet) in 1957, Limhamn in 1959 and Uppsala in 1960. Olsson participated in the ‘Unga Tecknare’ (Young Artists) exhibition at the National Museum, in the spring salons of Sweden's general art association in Stockholm, the 'Stockholm Salons’ show in Liljevalch's art gallery in Stockholm in 1958 and 1960, the Swedish Artists' Association exhibition in the Academy of Arts in 1959 , the exhibition 'Ak tiv färg' at Galerie Blanche in Stockholm in 1961 as well as exhibitions in Graz in 1958, Hamburg in 1959, Paris in 1959, Budapest in 1960 and in several Swedish provincial cities. Olsson was a member of the artist group 'Dals länningarna' and the Dalsland art association.

She worked in a number of styles and mediums, but whether she worked with figurative motifs or with non-figurative compositions, her artistry is characterised by great clarity and firmness. She created a number of mosaic works in Ravenna. Writing about her work in 1961 Olsson stated 'It is the small, simple things in life that I feel for and it is the experience of them that I try to express in colour’.
She was a member of the Svenska konstnärinnor Association, Konstnärernas riksorganisation and Swedish Artists’ Union.

Olsson Arle is represented in the collections of the National Museum in Stockholm, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Norrköping Art Museum and the Kalmar Art Museum.

She passed away at the age of 80 on 20 May, 2006 on Huddinge.

Missing the Busy Hands Papercraft Project page
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
This comic is missing the last page. The Papercraft project cut out page. The Instruction page is included. But not the page to cut-out the figures and base. I think is is a factory defect. It doesn't appear to be damaged or show any signs of the page being cut out. This item is new. So I think this mistake is from the manufacturer. I thought the "Star Drek", was pretty funny. Homer is the captain and he uses an actual wooden log, as his captain's log. I like the comic, the only downside was the missing last page. That was very disappointing.
