Title: Swan's Whisper
Paradox: The surface that draws you in is the surface that sees through.
The Story
There are moments when knowing breaks through, not as understanding but as a direct, piercing clarity. This work comes from that place—where attention is so complete that what is seen begins to speak back. The illusion of surface falls away, and the truth beneath becomes visible, even if only for a moment. The process is simple: abstract acrylic forms the base, then hand-cut rice paper, painted with watercolour, is collaged on top. The result is a field where the seen and the seer meet. The disturbance of clarity lingers, making the old world look new. This is not about explanation, but about the raw fact of knowing—attention locked in, the moment the subconscious meets the higher self.
The Crossing
This work holds the moment when illusion becomes transparent, not by vanishing but by revealing what lies beneath. The frequency is a state of clarity that arrives suddenly, piercing through the surface and making the unseen visible. The paradox is lived: the very surface that once seduced now becomes the entry point to depth. Both layers—surface and depth—are present, inseparable, and seen at once. The artwork stabilises this condition, where knowing is not understanding, but a direct, unfiltered recognition.
Presence
The artwork features a large, horizontally oriented canvas with a dominant wash of pale yellow, earthy brown, and muted green tones. The background is abstract, with fluid, organic stains and splatters, creating a sense of depth and movement. In the foreground, a semi-opaque, hand-cut collage form in green and pink overlays the surface, suggesting a reclining figure or animal-like shape. The collage edges are crisp against the softer, diffused background. There are visible textural contrasts between the smooth, watery washes and the layered, tactile rice paper. The lower right corner contains a visible signature.
Specialised Pigments
Acrylic and watercolour on canvas, with hand-cut rice paper collage. Mineral and earth pigments create layered depth and transparency.
