Optical Performance
The Leica Noctivid 8x42 delivers brilliant, high-contrast images thanks to SCHOTT High Transmission glass and a 12-element lens system. Multi-coatings maximise light transmission, while P40 phase-corrected prisms enhance clarity. The 42mm objective lenses provide excellent low-light performance, and the wide 62° angle of view offers an immersive experience. Edge-to-edge clarity is ensured with field flatteners and baffles that reduce distortion and glare.
Use and Handling
Designed for easy handling, the Leica Noctivid 8x42 features a dual-hinge open-bridge design for added grip and reduced weight. The ergonomic magnesium alloy chassis shifts the centre of gravity for improved stability. The large, slip-resistant focusing wheel is easy to manipulate, and the twist-out eyecups ensure comfort for users with or without glasses. A long 19mm eye relief and wide 5.2mm exit pupil ensure comfortable, bright views, even in low light.
Construction and Durability
The Leica Noctivid 8x42 is built for durability, with a magnesium alloy chassis and protective rubberised armouring for a secure grip. The binoculars are nitrogen-filled for fogproof performance and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and submersible up to 5m. A proprietary varnish coating on metal surfaces protects against corrosion and wear, ensuring long-lasting reliability for demanding outdoor use.
