This sand-and-soil blend mimics the natural desert floor, encouraging behaviours such as digging and foraging while helping to maintain a suitable environment. The addition of soil reduces the risk of impaction compared to pure sand and allows for moisture retention, creating localised humidity zones that support hydration and shedding.

Spread evenly over the base of the vivarium, using rocks or wood to create terrain variation and natural depth. Spray under hides or in specific areas to create humid microclimates as required. Spot clean daily, replacing faeces and surrounding substrate with fresh material, and perform a full change every eight weeks or sooner if heavily soiled. Avoid over-wetting and contact with electrical equipment. Bearded Dragons and other desert reptiles are best heated from above; floor heat mats are not recommended.
