In the heart of Middleboro, Massachusetts, a hero was born on November 2, 1946. Wayne Maurice Caron, a beacon of courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication, left an indelible mark on history as an FMF Corpsman.
Wayne's journey of valor began when he enlisted in the US Navy on July 12, 1966, in Boston, Massachusetts. His path led him to become a Hospital Corpsman Third Class, a title that would forever be synonymous with heroism.
Wayne's commitment to saving lives took root during his training at the Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes. From there, he embarked on a mission of compassion and bravery that would ultimately lead him to the front lines of Vietnam.
On July 28, 1968, Wayne Caron's courage shone brightest. Amidst enemy fire in Quang Nam Province, he rushed to the aid of his fallen comrades, disregarding the danger that surrounded him. Despite being wounded not once, but twice, Wayne's determination knew no bounds. He crawled through the battlefield to provide critical medical aid, undoubtedly saving lives in the process.
For his selflessness and valor, Wayne Maurice Caron was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. His unwavering dedication in the face of extreme danger embodies the finest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
