On Easter Week 1916, as England was preoccupied with WWI, Irish revolutionaries - supported by our exiled children in America - rose against the might of the British Empire to fight for Ireland’s freedom. The tricolour and the green flag of the Irish Republic flew proudly above Dublin, and for 6 days, the men and women of the Irish Volunteers, Irish Citizen Army, Cumann na mBan, and Fianna Éireann struck a blow for Irish independence.

Outnumbered and outgunned, they fought in defiance of centuries of English oppression - declaring that the people of Ireland had the right to the ownership of Ireland and the unfettered control of Irish destinies. Although the Rising was brutally suppressed and 16 men were executed, their sacrifice ignited a flame that would result in the 2.5 year Irish War of Independence (1919-1921).

This jersey is to remember one of the greatest generations of Irish people, honouring the courage and the sacrifice of those men and women that fought on Easter Week 1916.
