Vernon Reid’s virtuosic — and intentionally idiosyncratic — musical personality has earned him a devoted, dare we say, cult-like following. A stripped-down, blacked-out iteration of the Living Colour guitarist’s Totem Series, the Reverend Vernon Reid The Darque is one of the few axes brazen enough to contain the guitarist’s anarchic, Bad-Brains-meets-Mahavishnu-inspired chops. Originally unveiled at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert, this high-performance electric guitar is built upon an ergonomically slim korina body, which brandishes a spotlight-ready satin poly finish. The Vernon Reid The Darque’s 3-piece korina neck feels like absolute greased lightning, and its 22-fret, 12-inch-radius ebony fingerboard provides an ample launching platform for high-level finger aerobatics. A trio of Railhammer Vernon Reid humbuckers infuses this solidbody electric guitar with a massive miscellany of scorching-hot tones, which you can shape with dedicated Volume, Tone, and Bass Contour controls. Vernon Reid’s whammy mastery is undeniable, and his signature Reverend is equipped to oblige him, thanks to a Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro double-locking tremolo. Players with an intense desire to subvert musical barriers will find Reverend’s Vernon Reid The Darque to be a first-class collaborator.

Stage-ready looks and pumped-up playability
The Vernon Reid The Darque flaunts a thin, aerodynamically contoured korina body, which is covered with an eye-catching satin polyurethane finish and given an attention-grabbing, blacked-out aesthetic. You’ll appreciate the effortless playability afforded by this guitar’s 3-piece, Medium Oval korina neck, which features a satin finish for an agile, low-drag feel. Finally, you also get a blazing-fast 12-inch-radius ebony fingerboard, which is crowned with 22 nickel-alloy frets and emblazoned with a kaleidoscope of mesmerizing inlays.

Vivid tone from versatile electronics
Players who demand hot, fat tones but also require a flexible sonic palette will appreciate this guitar’s Railhammer Vernon Reid pickups. Arrayed in a triple-humbucker configuration, these pickups vaunt a cutting-edge design, with rails under the wound strings for tight, clear lows and poles under the plain strings for smooth, soaring highs with zero hum. You’ll dig this solidbody electric guitar’s Bass Contour control, a passive bass roll-off that tightens your low end and revoices your pickups. Reverend’s proprietary custom jack plate, Pure Tone jack, and 10% pots and caps round out the Vernon Reid The Darque’s robust features.

Ready for mind-bending pitch pyrotechnics
Anyone familiar with Vernon Reid’s playing knows that the man seriously knows how to work a whammy. For that reason, the Vernon Reid The Darque comes outfitted with a Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro. This low-profile double-locking tremolo allows you to shriek, squeal, and flutter with absolute impunity. Are you someone who treats bar-to-body dive-bombs like an Olympic sport? Well, the Vernon Reid The Darque can take it, and your tuning will snap right back into place when you let go of the bar. Countless guitarists are die-hard Floyd Rose devotees, and we’re pleased as punch with its inclusion on this Vernon Reid signature guitar.

Okay for the price
Size: XX-Large, Color: Denim Blue
The product was light and compact for packing for an Alaska cruise. It was also sufficiently warm and relatively rain resistant. But on the second day of wearing, the zipper blew out. I was able to fix for a short while, but in the end, I couldn’t use it.

Great deal on a shacket
Color: Khaki, Size: X-Large
The shacket looks like it is depicted in pictures. It is oversized in general since it is intended to be an over garment. The weight of the cotton is heavier than a normal cotton shirt, but not as heavy as a denim jacket. I am 5'8" tall and 175 pounds. My sport coat chest measurement is 44 inches. I ordered XL so it would be large enough to cover a T shirt and shoulder holster for S&W Shield to CCW. I washed in cold and hung dried, and it still feels a little too large. I will try to wash and machine dry and see if the fit improved. The shacket looks to be worn with sleeves extended. I tried rolling up the sleeves and was only able to get two rolls. A third roll was not possible because it wouldn't fit around my forearms even though I'm not muscular. Those wanting to roll up their sleeves may need to alter the shacket. I was pleasantly surprised that the shacket did not have a chemical smell, which makes sense because it is 100% cotton. It instead smelled like cotton. After the first wash I didn't notice any imperfections. The buttons don't seem to be unraveling, and the other stitching looks to be holding. The shacket comes with one extra button. Overall, it looks like a nice shacket. Because it comes from China, I was expecting a stinky, plastic shirt notwithstanding the advertising. But no, it looks like it's all cotton, all quite clean and healthy. For the price, it looks like a great deal. Note that they can't fit all body types. If you're muscular with large arms and shoulders, I would expect the usual difficulty in finding a fit.

Good quality, runs small through middle
Color: Nave Blue, Size: 3X-Large
Good looking shirt and much thicker and sturdier than I expected. Run small in gut though. I'm a 3X in everything but had to get 4X in this.

Great overshirt, but heavier than you might expect.
Great fit. Good quality, heavy cotton. I bought it as a substitute for a light jacket… to maybe wear open with a t-shirt. It’s pretty heavy… almost like denim… which was what I wanted. But it’s heavier than what I would wear as a “shirt”. The price was great, so I’d buy it again since it comes in a variety of colors.

100% polyester is awful!
Color: Olive Green, Size: Large
As others have pointed out, this used to be 100% cotton and it was great. Sturdy and comfortable, nice worn-in look. Now it’s 100% polyester and it’s terrible. Feels cheap, looks cheap and shiny. Please bring back the cotton shirts.
