The Ricoh ScanSnap iX1300 ADF Scanner is a purpose-built compact powerhouse designed for modern workflows that demand speed, reliability, and seamless connectivity. Built to elevate productivity in small offices, home offices, and busy workspaces, this white-washed beauty blends an ultra-compact footprint with fast, high-quality document capture. At its core, the iX1300 delivers a 600 dpi optical resolution that ensures sharp text, crisp images, and faithful reproduction of mixed-document types—from contracts and receipts to color-rich presentations. It’s not just about what it can do; it’s about how effortlessly it integrates into your daily routine, letting you transform paper into practical digital assets in moments. The device’s streamlined design hides a robust feature set: one-pass duplex scanning, an automatic document feeder for batch jobs, and dependable wireless connectivity that makes scanning to your computer, email, cloud services, or networked folders feel nearly effortless. If you’re seeking a reliable, user-friendly scanner that prioritizes space-saving design without sacrificing performance, the iX1300 stands ready to simplify the way you digitize documents.

  • Compact, stylish design with a white finish: The iX1300 is engineered to fit neatly into tight workspaces, blending into modern office aesthetics while offering a dependable scanning experience. Its small footprint keeps your desk uncluttered, yet it’s built to handle everyday document scanning with the same reliability you expect from a larger device. The sleek exterior reflects a focus on simplicity and ergonomics, making setup and daily use feel natural rather than cumbersome.
  • Wi-Fi enabled scanning for flexible workflows: Say goodbye to tethered USB cables and hello to wireless convenience. The ScanSnap iX1300 supports easy wireless connections that let you scan directly to your computer, mobile devices, cloud services, or email—wherever you work best. The intuitive setup guides help you configure wireless access quickly, so you can start scanning almost immediately. This wireless capability is particularly valuable in shared office environments or homes where multiple users need fast, reliable access to scanned documents without swapping cables.
  • Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for multi-page jobs: The built-in ADF streamlines batch scanning, powering through stacks of pages with minimal intervention. Whether you’re digitizing an expense report, client folders, or a multi-page contract, the iX1300’s ADF helps you capture every page in a single pass. Duplex scanning—scanning both sides of pages in one pass—enhances efficiency for double-sided documents, reducing handling time and accelerating your workflow. The result is a smoother, more consistent scanning experience that saves you time during busy days.
  • 600 dpi optical resolution for crisp, legible results: The 600 dpi optical sensor ensures your scanned documents retain sharp typography and accurate image details. This level of resolution is ideal for professional document archiving, OCR-powered text search, and clear digital copies of forms, receipts, and reports. Whether you’re converting paper files to searchable PDFs or saving color graphics for later editing, you’ll appreciate the clarity and fidelity delivered by the iX1300’s optics.
  • Offered with ScanSnap software integration for streamlined productivity: The iX1300 works in concert with ScanSnap Home software to organize, preview, and export scanned files with ease. The software ecosystem enhances productivity through automated profiles, cloud service integrations, and straightforward OCR capabilities that create searchable PDFs and editable text from scanned pages. This combination of hardware and software makes it simpler to standardize your scanning workflow, reduce manual file handling, and improve document management across devices and teams.

How to install Ricoh ScanSnap iX1300 ADF Scanner

  • Unbox and position: Remove the scanner from its packaging and place it on a stable, near-socket surface. Ensure good airflow around the device and a clear space for paper feeds. If you plan to use wireless scanning, keep the unit within range of your Wi-Fi router or access point for a strong signal.
  • Power and initial connections: Connect the power cable to a suitable power outlet and turn on the scanner. If you prefer a wired setup, connect the USB cable from the scanner to your computer. For wireless use, keep the scanner on and ready to pair with ScanSnap Home or the appropriate ScanSnap software on your computer or mobile device.
  • Install the ScanSnap software: On your computer, download and install ScanSnap Home or the companion software provided for your operating system. Follow on-screen prompts to complete the installation. The software will guide you through configuring profiles, scan destinations, and OCR settings to create searchable documents efficiently.
  • Connect via Wi-Fi: Open ScanSnap Home, choose the wireless setup option, and follow the steps to connect the iX1300 to your local network. You may need to select your network and enter a password. Once connected, you can start scanning to cloud services, email, or local folders without a USB connection.
  • Load and test a document: Insert a stack of documents into the ADF, double-check the page alignment, and perform a test scan. Review the result in ScanSnap Home to confirm color accuracy, resolution, and OCR functionality. Adjust scan settings as needed for different document types, such as receipts versus multi-page contracts, to optimize output.
  • Establish a preferred workflow: Create profiles for common tasks (e.g., “Invoices to PDF,” “Receipts to CSV,” “Contracts to Word”). Assign destinations and naming conventions to ensure consistent filing. With wireless operation, you can trigger scans from mobile devices or laptops without hovering around the USB port.

A Truly Ergonomic Mouse
Number of Items: 1
Other not completely flat mice claim to be "ergonomic", but the only way to completely remove stress from your forearm when using a mouse is with a "vertical" mouse. My 2020 K75575WW Kensington ergonomic vertical mouse developed a problem with the left button "stuttering" so that it sent multiple button clicks when pressed just once. I liked the Kensington quite a bit. But it always just a little bit on the "not quite as solid as I would like" side, and failing after just 2.5 years confirmed this. So I wanted a more solidly build mouse. A search for "ergonomic mouse review" showed that the Logitech MX Master 3S was clearly the best ergonomic mouse available. At $100 it was several times more expensive as others including the latest Kensington vertical mouse. But sometimes furgal doesn't mean the least expensive. Sometimes it can mean the most expensive if that comes with better performance, features and lifespan. So I ordered it. And while it is indeed an incredible mouse, the angle is only about 20 degrees. The result is that while there is some reduction in forearm stress compared to a flat mouse, it wasn't enough for me. By the end of my very long days driving my mouse almost as much as I drive my keyboard, I could feel the tension building up in my forearm. So after a week I returned it and bought this Logitech MX Vertical. It is slightly less expensive than the MX Master 3S, but still much more expensive relative to other options. And while it is lighter and a little less substantial feeling in my hand than the MX Master 3S, it still feels very firm and solid. Most importantly keeps my hand in the neutral position with my fingers at about 70 degrees. A great feature of the MX Vertical shares with the MX Master 3S is the thumb rest. The Kensington didn't have this and so my thumb rested on the desktop. If it was a bit warm and my hands would sweat my thumb wouldn't slide smoothly and I would have to lift my thumb off the desk when I went to move the mouse. Not a horrible thing, but if you spend 8+ hours mousing around it gets tiresome. The button clicks are crisp. Best of all when the button bottoms out it feels like it is pressing against the case. It doesn't feel like travel is being limited by the switch itself bottoming out like the Kensington felt like it did. My hope is that this will keep the switch from wearing out so fast as happened with the Kensington. One slight negative of the MX Vertical is that I don't feel like I am quite as accurate in being able to move the cursor to a specific spot on the screen without some amount of conscious effort. Instead it doesn't go exactly in the direction I intended and overshoots where wanted it to stop. As such it might not make the best mouse for video games. [UPDATE: There is a bit of a learning curve in moving the mouse accurately. In the last couple weeks my need to make a more conscious effort to move the mouse to a specific spot on the screen is going down. Still think it is likely to not be as accurate as a flater mouse]
