Her Head’s on Fire / Arms Like Roses Split 7”

Her Head’s on Fire and Arms Like Roses have joined forces with Double Helix Records to unleash an emotionally charged split 7” that features one previously unreleased track from each band. 

An indie rock supergroup signed to the legendary Boston, MA-based Iodine Recordings, Her Head’s on Fire is a fierce quartet with an impressive pedigree (Garrison, Small Brown Bike, The Bomb, and Saves the Day) serving up heart-seeking post-hardcore and emotive rock with enlivening riffs and melodies. 

With a sound harkening back to the ‘90s and early 2000s influenced by acts like Sunny Day Real Estate, mewithoutYou, Circa Survive, and Tigers Jaw, and members spread across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts, New England quintet Arms Like Roses (singer Estelle Angel, guitarists Adam Padilla and Xela Stockmal, drummer Thomas Shreve, and bassist Tom Fisher) play a blend of emo, indie rock, and post-hardcore that alternates between lush beauty and cathartic harshness just like the seasons do in the region they call home.

"We always try to go into the studio with one or two extra songs on the backburner, so we have a track when someone comes up with a cool idea to collaborate with other artists,” says Syd Jagger, vocalist of Her Head’s on Fire. “We played our record release show for our debut LP ‘College Rock and Clove Cigarettes’ LP with Arms Like Roses and instantly felt a kinship with these lovely folks. I knew when we made our last record, ‘Strange Desires’ for Iodine Records, that we should set up a split release with pals while we wrote and recorded the next album. This 7" is that idea seen to fruition. The lovely folks at Double Helix Records embraced the idea and the multi-talented Jeff Caudill (Gameface, Low Coast) provided the artwork. Two tracks by fellow artists who aspire to build a community of love and respect for one another." 

"This is a song about following your own path, no matter what others think,” explains Estelle Angel, vocalist of Arms Like Roses. “It’s basically a love letter to my young, insecure self. As a child, I was led to believe that all of my dreams and aspirations have some sort of expiration date. I know now, that warped view is so far from the truth. No life has a set timeline. What matters most is being your unapologetic self and always following your heart. Every person has a different story to tell." 

Featuring artwork by Jeff Caudill (Gameface, Low Coast) and mastered for vinyl by Grammy Award winner Jason Livermore (Rise Against, Hot Water Music, Descendents, NOFX) at The Blasting Room, this Her Head’s on Fire / Arms Like Roses Split 7” was proudly pressed by Hellbender Vinyl in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
