In her relatively short career, Abigail Washburn has covered a lot of ground; both physically and metaphorically. Bouncing between China and Appalachia has informed much of her musical output and influenced a body of work that goes far beyond the usual claw banjo repertoire. Her Rounder debut, City of Refugee is a sublime marriage of old time and indie pop. On the album Washburn pair venerable folk elements with far-flung sounds, and the results feel both strangely familiar and unlike anybody's ever heard before. The album features My Morning Jacket's Carl Bromel, the Decemberists' Chris Funk, Turtle Island String Quartet's Jeremy Kittell, atmospheric Jazz guitarist Bill Firsell, the Mongolian string band Hanggai, who managed to contribute ambient throat singing from halfway around the world. The album was produced by Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Tift Merritt, Mudhoney) and features the talents of multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, Kai Welch (Tommy and the Whale). City of Refugee offers and expansive palette of supple and modern textures resulting in a remarkably harmonious piece of art.

Got this for my large husky to wear for his 10th birthday. He didn't tear it up right away. The squeaker lasted longer than it does with most toys. He seemed to genuinely enjoy the toy. Removed the stretchy string once I got a few pictures so he wouldn't eat it. Very cute.

5 Stars - My Gentle Giant Loves It!

I got this toy for my German Shepherd, who is very gentle and loves soft plush toys. Even though he’s a big dog, he’s careful and enjoys playing gentle tug-of-war so the rope part as the string is perfect. The toy was a little smaller in length than I expected, but it hasn’t mattered at all — he absolutely loves it! It’s soft, thick, and has a squeaker deep inside that will make it hard for a dog to pull out. It is cute, and has held up well to a lot of carrying around and light tugging. If you have a gentle dog who loves plush toys, I definitely recommend this one. I would absolutely purchase it again! Fun little dog birthday gift.

Not for tough dogs who chew

My dog loves it! We play tug of war and it’s still holding up. She is 40 pounds and is strong. But this would not be durable for dogs who rip things apart.
