Expand and future-proof your Luxul-based network with the On-Q SFP+ Module. This compact, high-performance transceiver is designed to slot into Luxul switches that feature SFP or SFP+ ports, delivering reliable, scalable uplinks and inter-switch connectivity for homes, small offices, and growing SMB environments. Whether you’re building a multi-room media ecosystem, linking a pair of switches for increased bandwidth, or provisioning a dedicated connection to a high-speed server or storage array, this module provides a flexible, plug-and-play solution that simplifies deployment and maintenance. Built to withstand continuous operation in demanding setups, the On-Q SFP+ Module delivers consistent performance, low latency, and easy integration with your existing network gear.

  • Unified compatibility with Luxul switches that have SFP or SFP+ ports, ensuring seamless integration into your current network without compatibility headaches.
  • High-speed performance with 10 Gbps data rates, enabling rapid inter-switch links, fast uplinks to core switches, and low-latency connectivity for demanding workloads.
  • Flexible deployment options, supporting inter-switch connections as a backbone link or providing an additional port to connect a high-bandwidth device such as a server, NAS, or workstation.
  • Simple, tool-free installation with a hot-swappable design that minimizes downtime during upgrades or maintenance, reducing the complexity of expanding a busy network.
  • Durable construction and tested reliability, designed to withstand continuous operation in residential and commercial environments while maintaining a compact form factor that fits into crowded equipment racks.

Technical Details of On-Q SFP+ Module

  • Transceiver type: SFP+ (10GBASE) module designed for Luxul switches with SFP/SFP+ ports
  • Data rate: Up to 10 Gbps theoretical maximum (actual throughput depends on cabling, compatibility, and network conditions)
  • Compatibility: Luxul Ethernet switches with corresponding SFP/SFP+ ports; intended for network interconnects and expansion
  • Form factor: Standard SFP+ hot-plug module; compact, plug-in form factor suitable for standard chassis and rack ecosystems
  • Cable type: Supports standard SFP+ cabling options appropriate to deployment (fiber optic or copper Direct Attach Cables), as supported by the switch and module

How to Install On-Q SFP+ Module

Installing the On-Q SFP+ Module is designed to be straightforward and minimally disruptive, whether you are upgrading a single switch or expanding a larger network. Follow these steps to ensure proper seating, compatibility, and operation of your new transceiver.

  • Prepare the network: Power down the affected device only if your network policy requires a maintenance window. In many cases, hot-swapping SFP+ modules is supported, but it’s best to follow your organization’s change management procedures.
  • Identify the correct port: Locate an available SFP+ port on the Luxul switch that supports the On-Q SFP+ Module. Confirm that the port is designed for SFP/SFP+ modules to ensure proper operation.
  • Insert with care: Align the module with the port and insert it firmly until it seats with a gentle click. If your chassis uses a retention clip, ensure the module is securely latched to prevent accidental disconnection during operation.
  • Verify detection: Power on the device if it was powered down, and navigate to the switch’s management interface to confirm that the SFP+ port recognizes the module. Look for a live link status and the correct negotiated speed (10 Gbps if connected to a compatible partner).
  • Configure as needed: Depending on your network design, configure relevant port settings such as speed (auto-negotiation vs fixed 10 Gbps), VLAN tagging, QoS policies, link aggregation, or other switching features to optimize performance for your workloads.
  • Test the connection: Connect a high-bandwidth device (server, NAS, or another switch) to the new link and run basic throughput and latency tests. Monitor for error-free operation and verify sustained performance under typical traffic loads.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the On-Q SFP+ Module used for? It is a high-speed, hot-swappable transceiver designed to provide 10 Gbps connectivity for Luxul switches with SFP/SFP+ ports. It can be used to interconnect switches or to add a high-bandwidth uplink to a networked device such as a server or storage array.
  • What determines the actual speed? The maximum data rate is 10 Gbps for SFP+ modules, but real-world performance depends on the connected device, cabling type, switch configuration, and network conditions. In practice, negotiated speed will reflect the capability of both ends of the link.
  • Is this module compatible with all Luxul switches? The module is designed for Luxul switches that include a matching SFP or SFP+ port. Before purchasing, verify your switch model supports SFP/SFP+ transceivers and that the module is intended for your port layout.
  • Do I need any special cables? Yes. Use the appropriate SFP+ cabling for your deployment, which may include fiber optic cables or copper Direct Attach Cables (DAC) as supported by your switch and the module. Ensure the chosen cabling meets your distance, performance, and compatibility requirements.
  • Does the module require driver software? SFP+ modules are typically detected by the switch as a physical interface and do not require separate driver software. Keeping your Luxul switch firmware up to date helps ensure optimal compatibility and performance.

Great durable ball
One of my dog’s favorite toy. We have had this ball for almost a year and it is still intact. My Doberman loves it and has not been able to destroy it. The size is comparable to s tenis ball. It has a little weight to it witch makes it easy to trow further.

Best toy I’ve ever gotten for my dog
The toy allows you to interact with your dog in a way that I didn’t realize was so important until I adopted a dog who was ball obsessed and a bit disconnected. We have bonded so much over this toy and it has held up so much better than 95% of the toys I’ve gotten, which have all been labeled as high-quality or durable. It is perfect for playing fetch and for tugging, as well as training. The only thing worth noting is that the rope is thin enough that it can be uncomfortable to tug with a large or strong dog. I usually wrap a leash around my hip and hook it to the rope when we are doing intense tugging (because my 75 pound dog would win otherwise). If you do go for a tug toy that has a more comfortable handle, it will not bounce and be easy for a dog to run around with in the same way. This rope makes the weight heavily in favor of the ball, so it acts more like a ball and the dog is more inclined to grab the ball. I think this toy finds right balance of ball to rope.

So good, I repurchased
This is one of my dog's fave fetch toys, and after losing it in a grassy field, I repurchased. The ball is heavy and durable, and the rope is sturdy and just the right length for flinging. When this comes out, my dog knows we're playing fetch! There's no strange smell out of the package, and while my 70lb Samoyed isn't a hard chewer, he hasn't put a dent or nick in the ball itself. It's not so hard that I'd be worried about him gnawing on it, either.

Great ball much improvement on thr rope
I have to say that I absolutely live this ball. The ball itself is a great sturdy and very tough ball. The rope however needs improved. It should be a much more durable, heavy duty rope. I have 4 large dogs. I do not let them chew this toy we play fetch with it but like any dog they tug (hard) and pull and do chew at it. I do not think that can be avoided, and thr rope doesn't hold up.

Excellent for heavy chewers
Excellent toy for heavy chewers like malinois! The rope makes it easy to throw farther. Good amount of bounce as well. Definitely need to supervise as it could be a choking hazard for larger breeds.
