The Cisco IE-1000-4T1T-LM Industrial Ethernet Switch is engineered for operational technology environments where reliability, ruggedness, and predictable performance matter most. Designed to bridge traditional factory systems with modern digital infrastructures, this compact switch delivers secure, low-latency connectivity for automation networks, control systems, and edge devices. Built to endure harsh industrial settings, it provides a streamlined path from legacy Ethernet deployments to scalable, centralized management—without compromising uptime or safety.

  • Rugged, compact design tailored for harsh industrial environments, including factory floors, control cabinets, and outdoor enclosures. Its durable metal enclosure and sealed construction protect against dust, moisture, and vibration while fitting neatly into space-constrained installations. This means you can deploy the IE-1000-4T1T-LM in limited cabinet space or on a wall without sacrificing performance or reliability.
  • Reliable uptime with thoughtful thermal management and low-maintenance operation. The switch is designed for continuous operation in demanding environments, offering quiet cooling and solid-state reliability. With broad operating temperature ranges, it remains stable during temperature swings common in production lines, ensuring uninterrupted network access for critical devices and machines.
  • Secure, scalable management capabilities suited for OT networks. The IE-1000-4T1T-LM supports enterprise-grade security practices, including controlled user access, encrypted management channels, and flexible policy enforcement. This enables safe remote administration, reduces exposure to cyber threats, and supports compliance needs for industrial environments.
  • Flexible deployment options with advanced traffic management features. The switch supports segmentation through VLANs, quality of service (QoS), and deterministic forwarding for time-critical industrial protocols. This ensures reliable data delivery for machine control, sensor streams, and safety-critical communications while reducing network contention.
  • Seamless integration with existing Cisco ecosystems and industrial networks. The IE-1000-4T1T-LM is designed to work with existing infrastructure, enabling easy onboarding, centralized monitoring, firmware updates, and streamlined troubleshooting. Its familiar management interfaces help administrators leverage existing skill sets for faster deployment and maintenance.

how to install Cisco IE-1000-4T1T-LM

  • Plan the installation: Identify a stable mounting location in a control cabinet or on a suitable wall. Ensure adequate clearance for heat dissipation and accessible cable routing. Verify that the power supply meets the device requirements and the network plan aligns with your VLAN and QoS strategy.
  • Mount the switch: Attach the IE-1000-4T1T-LM to a DIN rail or a panel mount, as supported by your enclosure. Ensure the unit is firmly secured to prevent movement during vibration and that the mounting method does not obstruct port access or cooling vents.
  • Connect power and network cabling: Use appropriate industrial-rated Ethernet cables to connect edge devices, sensors, controllers, and other switches. Attach the power input per vendor guidelines, observing polarity and ensuring secure, strain-relieved connections to withstand operational environments.
  • Initial configuration: Access the management interface via the assigned IP address or a secure console connection. Configure basic network settings, including management VLAN, administrative credentials, and secure access policies. Establish initial monitoring for uptime, port status, and bridge health to ensure a stable baseline.
  • Define network policies and validate operation: Implement VLANs to segment traffic between control networks and IT networks, configure QoS for time-sensitive automation streams, and apply ACLs to guard critical ports. Run a validation test by connecting representative devices and verifying packet delivery, latency, and error rates under typical load scenarios. Save and back up configurations for disaster recovery and future maintenance.

A good idea while it lasted.
Pattern Name: Dog
This toy was a great idea! I thought my Borador (1/2 Lab-1/2 Border Collie) that's constantly full of energy would love it. Unfortunately, he didn't want to play with it at all. Who knows. So I returned it and ordered a herding ball instead.

Fantastic toy for GSD and dogs that like to play tug-o-war
Pattern Name: Dog
We got this 6 months ago and it is our German Shepherd's favorite outside toy. It is the first thing she runs to when she goes outside. She will try to pull it off the rope with all her strength until she eventually launches it and has to go chase it down. She's obsessed! She is a very powerful chewer and destroys even the most durable rubber toys. It isn't a matter of if she will destroy it, but when. This toy has lasted so much longer than other toys, even high end 'indestructible' toys that cost 3 or 4 times as much. After a 6 month battle with the toy, she has won. I think our main mistake was that we didn't bring it in during the snow storms. The freezing temperatures must have made it more brittle, since we immediately noticed a crack start to form on the green ball as she played with it in the snow, which slowly spread until she we able to completely rip it off. I am definitely buying another one! A couple tips for strong chewers -Supervision is key at first for smart dogs. Our GSD quickly realized that the easiest way to get the ball is to chew through the thin bungie ropes. However, we were there to redirect her to the ball. After a few times, she stopped trying to chew through the bungie rope part. She must have realized that it is more fun to chase and pull on the ball than simply trying to solve the problem of how to get it. -Make sure the ball hung high enough up where your dog can't casually stand there and chew on the ball or ropes with their powerful back teeth. This doesn't mean hang it super high so they have to jump for it, but just so they can't hold it without there being some resistance on the rope. If there is some resistance they will want to pull back instead of destructively chew. -Bring it inside during extra cold weather.

Took 15 minutes to put up. Took less than 30 seconds for him to pull off bungee. Great concept but ball didn’t hold up.

Potentially incredibly dangerous, but also very fun
Pattern Name: Dog, Pattern Name: Dog
Edit to add. We've swapped out the toy for a rope with a ball on it (last picture) and it is much safer now. He's over 75 pounds now and it is holding up fine to the tugging *** Our 6½ month old puppy likes playing tug much more than any of us in the family do. He immediately fell in love with this toy. We attached the severed arm of another toy to it, which has a squeaker and that made it even more exciting. I want to give it more than 3 stars, but I can't because as is, it really is kind of dangerous. Because of the large loop the ball is attached to, a dog could get seriously hurt. My little (ok, he's not little since he's over 70 pounds already) guy shows in the video one way it could be a problem. They can get a leg caught in the loop, and get twisted up, harming their leg. Thankfully he didn't this time but it could easily happen. Worse, a dog might get their neck in the loop and have fatal results. All it would take to fix it is a thicker, shorter, single cord going from the main piece to the toy instead of the thin loop. We are going to fix it, but as is, PLEASE don't let your dog play with it if you aren't right there to help them.
