The EGR cooler on 6.0 diesel engines eventually fails, leaking coolant into the intake, which turns to that dreaded white smoke from the exhaust. Performance suffers, you need to keep replenishing coolant and your truck runs poorly. That's until the EGR cooler fails a little more, and a rush of liquid coolant gets sucked into a cylinder.
