Life is hopeless but it is not serious. We have to have danced while we could and, later, to have danced again in the telling.
A weekend spent antiquing is shadowed by the colonial atrocities that occurred on that land. A walk at dusk is interrupted by casual racism. A loving marriage is riven by mysterious tensions. And a remarkable cascade of voices speaks out from a pulsing metropolis.
We’re invited to experience these events and others through the eyes and ears of Tunde, a West African man working as a teacher of photography on a renowned New England campus. He is a reader, a listener, a traveler, drawn to many different kinds of stories: stories from history and epic; stories of friends, family, and strangers; stories found in books and films. Together these stories make up his days. In aggregate these days comprise a life.
Tremor is a startling work of realism and invention that engages brilliantly with literature, music, race, and history as it examines the passage of time and how we mark it. It is a reckoning with human survival amidst “history’s own brutality, which refuses symmetries and seldom consoles,” but it is also a testament to the possibility of joy. As he did in his magnificent debut Open City, Teju Cole once again offers narration with all its senses alert, a surprising and deeply essential work from a beacon of contemporary literature.

Super comfy, but side strap is a bit annoying

Honest review of these shoes that I just wore to a wedding. They are SO comfortable, I wore them all night and didn't need to take them off. The only issue is that since the one strap just goes along the one side of the top of your foot, I did feel like it kind of pushed the shoe to the side. It's hard to describe, but when I was walking sometimes I could feel my food shifting off my shoe on the side.

These are so cute and comfy and I love them. Minus two stars because I specifically bought them for the little silver SM on the bottom so they’d look better than the ones at Walmart. These did not come with the little silver logo on the bottom.

Super cute but came damaged & really annoying to walk in

Super cute but mine came damaged and the straps don’t stay up great…
I love Steve Madden shoes, and own a few pairs already, so I had high hopes for these heels.
I ordered these for a wedding coming up and
I hadn’t opened the package right away as I was out of town, when I got back I was so excited to try them on only to find that they came already scuffed on the toes and heels!! It looked like they had been worn multiple times already, so that was upsetting.
In terms of fit, I ordered a size 8, and it fit true to size as far at the sole goes, as for the strap that goes from in between your toes and around your heel, it falls off after taking 3 steps and is honestly really annoying!
The strap that goes across the top of your foot was also wayyy loose on my feet and didn’t help the other strap stay in place much making it super difficult to walk in them, every step felt like they were about to fly off my feet!
Unfortunately, I will be returning them.
